hey, newmattl, leave me alone, ok?are you the guy's lawyer or something?don't try to lecture me, ok, man?I was discussing the question, Maggie's sister DOES look like a lesbian, it doesn't matter, but I got the feeling she was lesbian and wanted to discuss.

why are people instantly soo f.. defensive when it comes to homosexuality?
there are at least about 9 topics concerning the main character's preference for orange juice! and you get all tight-up about this one???
maybe it's not important for you cause you're obviously not part of a minority group (at least not sexual orientation-wise) but for people who are, it is a random fact that's quiet interesting. soo just.. you know, try being a little less
mentally restricted, next time. please. -

newmatt1, why can't we be friends?
So, again, regarding the topic of the board, I watched this movie a long time ago, and I always felt something different regarding Lisa, she didn't have a boyfriend, her interaction with Kevin, seemed like two buddies, and there is this scene when Kevin interrupts something, Lisa is with a girl on the coach, he comes in, its a latin girl, you guys remember?what do you think of that? -

I agree, people get so defensive. If the op said "OMG WAS SHE A LESBIAN?! HOW WRONG!!" id understand, but all he asked was if she or was not a lesbian, why the hell are you guys getting so defencive?
Just call me "Orange Lightning" ZA-ZA-ZA-ZING! -

no one was defensive they merely stated it was a pointless question. and probably quite accurately used the word juvenile. seems like a kid trying to cover a omgz lezbianz, how hawt!!! remark with a sensible question.

Really I think the whole debate over the question has gone farther than the debate over the topic itself. In short, it was an unnecessary question, but hey, people got free time, and inquisitive minds ARE necessary to expansion. And even if that person wasn't getting defensive, still, nobody asked ofr negativity. A reply, yes, but that wasn't an answer, it was destructive criticism.

Listen up people. She wasn't a lesbian. Early on in the movie, she and her sister are at a party. Lisa was eyeing the guys and saying, "Nohe is too nerdy", No..he is too clean cut, yada, yada, yada. If she was a lesbian, she wouldn't be looking at the guys and making comments about them as potential dates. The girl in her apartment was a client. She did tarot readings, remember? Rewind the DVD and watch it again. End of story.

I believe that Lisa is supposed to be very free spirited and not too tied down to one sex or the other. The candle light and being all dressed up with the woman in her apartment seems to almost suggest she might have been romantically attached to this woman, but for all we know, they may have been getting high before hitting a night on the town (since they were all dressed up and all).
Lisa makes a comment about male genitalia at the beginning of the movie also, ("I wouldn't look a gift ***** in the mouth"?).
If anything she would be bi-sexual but not a lesbian after that comment. But it doesn't matter much about Lisa, we're meant to be focusing on Tom! LOL. -

well.. wouldn't it have been WEIRDER if Kevin Bacon was hitting on her? that was his SISTER.. So them being friendly or buddies would make more sense. Having said that, I never gave it one thought or the other. She was just his loopy hippy-like sister.. theone who believed in ghosts, hypnosis, etc.

Maybe she was bi because remember at the party they went to she was checking out guys? I think she is very eccentric may be very open-minded to enjoying both sexes.
I think I'm pretty much like you, only successful. -

I didn't catch it when I first saw this some years ago, but just recently I viewed it and I think Maggie makes a comment about it when they are walking to the concert or bar they were going to. I also thought Lisa was Tom's sister not Maggieright.
I also wanted to add that what Dalazen asked wasn't bad he just wanted to know. He didn't say it in a mean way.
Peace

yeah, seems to me like a legit question and nothing but juvenile kneeJERK reactions against it i gots nothing to add that hasn't already been said really i just viewed the flick on freetoairtv here and quite enjoyed it. Koepp is quite the proficient screenwriter IMHO and always has subtle depths to his secondry characters to my mind this 'lesbian' angle just showed how open minded the sister was in some respects, but not so in others
