Every source tells me that the version of the song in the trailer for this film is by Gob, but the Gob version sounds way different than the one in the trailer. Was there a different version of the song in the trailer? If so, who performs it?

I believe it was the original Stones version in the trailer,if I remember correctly.

The song also plays when the murder takes place (near the end)
Didn't sound exactly like the Stones

No,the one that plays in the movie was the cover. But I believe the one played in the trailers was the original Stones version.

That is such a great song. It has been used in at least a couple movies. It played over the end credits of "Full Metal Jacket" and during the end credits of "The Devil's Advocate".
