Somehow I had never seen this and so was gald to get it second hand on dvd for 75 pence (less than a pound to non British readers.
I almost gave up watching because I thought the arguing would never stop.
But I stuck with it.
I thought Hackman was great in this,Freeman was ok but I don't know why they bothered co producing it,did it mean something to them?
Anyway I was disappointed that Monica Belluci,I hardly recognised her and and her part was small.
The script was intelligent, years ago I worked in a sports centre and kid gymnastic competitions attraced huge crowds of men who were not related to the young girls taking part,I am not saying they were all perverts but certainly an all male event had less viewers.
So some questions spring to mind
Why the Puerto Rico setting and is it really like that in relation to the police looking somewhat lacking in something?
Are we supposed to guess who the real killer was? I wondered if it was the brother in law? or the police chief? or am I mad thinking it even mattered as long as it was not Hackman? -

"I don't know why they bothered co producing it, did it mean something to them?"
You'd have to say it did, wouldn't you. In many respects it's a two - hander and I guess they saw an opportunity to play off one another.
"I was disappointed that Monica Belluci,I hardly recognised her and and her part was small."
It was hardly a small part, though she clearly wasn't onscreen as much as Freeman and Hackman. However her role was central to the proceedings.
"Why the Puerto Rico setting"
Not sure. It probably could have been set anywhere.
"is it really like that in relation to the police looking somewhat lacking in something?"
Not sure what you're asking there. Lacking in what?
"Are we supposed to guess who the real killer was?"
Nope! I don't think it's meant to be a who-dun-it.
"or am I mad thinking it even mattered as long as it was not Hackman?"
It wasn't him so I guess you might want to ask your self why would he end up admitting to crimes he didn't commit?
