i started reading On The Road and noticed a lot of parallels between the book and Highway. first of all, On The Road is hailed as the story of a generaton, ya know? the story of the beat generation. jack and pilot's story is just a story of generation x. in highway they pop e and have long discussions, sex, etc. not unlike the bennies [benzedrine] they pop in on the road. neil cassady has these crazy sexual exploits which he vividly describes to his friends [not unlike jack telling pilot about him and jill]. then of course theres the whole actually on the road aspect. sal paradise hitches across the country and is picked up by all these different people, and he learns their stories. jack and pilot pick up cassie and the fox and learn their stories.
ionothis isnt very WELL thought out, and its worth mentioning i havent finished the book. but these are just a few things i noticed in the book which made certain parts of the movie a touch more interesting.
if anyone can elaborate or correct??

just so everyone knows my idiot self has names wrong and probably several other things wrong in what i said above buuut i sorta feel like u might get the gist of it

Nah man, it's right on. It has tons of parallels to the book. I mean, the road trip itself, and the whole adventurous aspect of it. I mean, they're whole different stories but the influence is obviously there and quite significant.

Jack Kerouac is amongst the best known of the writers known as the Beat Generation.
One of Kerouac's best-known books is On the Road. Which is said to have influenced Highway.
Kerouac spent many of the years between 1947 and 1951 on the road and he searched for a life worth living in the 1950's which led him to recreational drug use and to travel, not only across the North America but throughout the world.
