Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Candyman: Day of the Dead

Saw this year's ago and didn't remember it being so horrid. Saw it a few days ago and shut it off halfway through. What were they thinking? His hook looked like it was from a toy store and sorry, but without Philip Glass' score, it wasn't scary at alllame, lame, lame.

As a horror fan..I've seen MUCH worse cheap horror and bad sequals. This 1 had its shortcomings for sure, but it wasn't a horrible Candyman sequelI've seen worse movies with better ratings on IMDB.
5/10..average at best..but not TERRIBLE by any means.

This had a couple of things going against it(no philip glass score, not released theatrically, baywatch babe in lead role). The movie's score is at first crappy for a candyman movie(it sounds like a rap beat or something) but when candyman appears in the subway its all good.

Don't understand most of the hate for this movie. Considering it's the third of a series and was made for the straight-to-video market, it's got decent production values and the script, direction and acting are all more-than-acceptable. Most reviews dismiss Donna D'Errico as just 'a
              Baywatch
bimbo', but although there are some moments where she struggles with her performance, she does fine in the role. Whereas the first two
              Candyman
films depicted white middle-class women venturing alone into seemingly-threatening black neighbourhoods,
              Day of the Dead
adds an extra layer with the character of Detective Craft representing the casual/overt racism that the non-white inhabitants of American cities face everyday.

Yeah. I have to agree. I liked the first two movies but the third one was horrible and while it wasn't the worst Horror movie I have seen. That goes to the Way of the Vampire which is an awful, awful movie where you can see the cameramen in multiple scenes, vampires have reflections one minute and the next they don't and hands come out of nowhere to give people swords.
But Candyman 3 is very disappointing to say the least.
With that being said, I would like a Candyman 4 and don't think one bad movie should ruin the series.
