You already know what made him into a killer: Being tortured and killed by a lynch mob for sleeping with a prominant white woman; there was nothing evil about him until this happened. These events were already covered via flashbacks in Candyman 2 and only took up a few minutes of screen time. There is no reason to tell a story that has already been told.
I am in agreement that there should not be another Candyman movie, since there is really nothing more that can be done with this storyline. -

personally though, i really like the idea of a prequel, set in the old times in the deep south, in the swamp and bayousufficiently creepy and I think it'd be awesome if they elaborated on the story, then focused on what happened in the years immediately following his murder. Did farewell to the flesh elaborate on the connection between candyman and having his name said in mirrors?

Nah The 4th part should be set on Haiti: An old priestess summons the ghost of the Candyman to take revenge for injustice done. It should be revealed that Daniel Robitaille was born on Haiti and taken away as a slave. There could be a lot of voodoo magic and zombies and stuff that would rock, wouldn't it?
Or this: Robitaille has had enough of the revenge business and becomes a superhero! He helps some kids in a bad neighborhood to develop self esteem and finish school! He also fights against a drug dealer who terrorizes all the good people - maybe he should be played by Snoop Dogg? (I remember a pretty neat flick with some kind of ghost pimp) -

How about a fun sorority slasher flick? As part of initiation, seven sorority girls (Katherine, Morgan, Allison, Sarah, Molly, Diora, and Kelly) are told to sneak into Cabrini Green and say Candyman five times in the mirror. Kelly is killed, the others escape. They decide not to tell anyone what they saw, because they know what happened to Helen Lyle sixteen years ago. Although they feel extreme amounts of guilt and fear, they decide to go through with a party hoping it would help them get their minds off things. Unfortunately for them, Candyman crashes the party and kills the girls one by one. Soon, Katherine discovers that she is another descendent of Daniel Robitaille, and the only way she can save her remaining friends is to sacrifice herself.
Does that sound fun or what? -

Nope. Candyman 4 will be a SyFy Original where the military tries to harness the power of Candyman.
The first scene shows someone using Skype and a mirror to lure him into a cage. When that doesn't work, a private wearing bomb armor is ordered to say Beetlejuice, I mean Candyman, the correct number of times.
When Candyman appears the walls will fall down, revealing it's just a stage set and he's surrounded by military with stun guns, beehive smokers, and nets.
They'll try to brainwash Candyman and sic him on random "terrorists" and it won't work.
"What do you mean, my name is now "Allahu Akbar?" Why would I want to kill people who say that? There's not even a mirror."
(Though Tony Todd would say this like "WHAT do you MEAN, my NAME is now "Allahu AKBAR?" Why would I WANT to KILL people who SAY that? There's NOT even a MIRROR.")
Candyman gets loose and kills everyone except for the lovely blonde therapist who was in charge of his treatment. He loves her because, duh, she's blonde (no matter how obviously fake), but also because she calls him by his real name and gets him a proper modern prothesis that lets him paint and express himself again. They move to Vermont and form a honey collective. He sells his paintings on Etsy. -

I remember hearing something about a sorority house (or something like that) in the snow back in 2003 and it was supposed to be filmed in Connecticut in 2004. I remember getting excited because I was moving to Connecticut that summer and hoped to get a PA job or something on it. I was 18 and I was overly ambitious in terms of i was going to get into the business. ?
