      Far more than the sum of its parts, definitely. But lack of historical accuracy must be counted against any claim to perfection. Pity.

        It's a great film, no longer my fave, and definitely not perfect.
        It's way too tame, now, and was always riddled with errors, both technical and historical.
        And where did Maximus's dog go?

          lol, this movie couldn't be further away from perfect. The plot is nonsensical, Commodus could have killed Maximus at his cell the first night.

            Listen kid, This isn't a 'perfect movie' there's no such thing, keep it at a personal opinion, way too many flaws, including showing cameras in certain shots, and the plot is off, For example Commodus could have killed Maximus in his cell. And inaccuracy
