I am really not sure what you mean. Are you talking cloved hooves and a tail, too?
The reference is to the Star Trek original-series episode "Mirror, Mirror," in which the mirror-universe Spock sported a goatee.

oh, oops. Thanks. I was more into TNG. Even though I love Leonard Nimoy. I was in the middle of re-watching the original series when my sister died and now it's too depressing to go back and finish it.
      TMI, I know.

Sorry to hear about your sister. That's very sad. My condolences, for whatever they're worth coming from an anonymous stranger on the Internet.

That is a rather strange reaction considering that, in spite of all the pokes it takes at them, Galaxy Quest is pretty much a love letter to sci-fi fandom. By Grabthar's hammer, it's the fans who end up saving the day!

OMG, I've been a Trekkie since back in the day when they got irate at the term "Trekkie" and preferred to be called "Trekkers".
I would imagine that on the whole, "Star Trek" fans would be the
                    biggest
                    "Galaxy Quest" fans!
From the posts above it seems as if I'm correct.

Wasn't it Trekkie, then Trekker, then back to Trekkie? I watched TOS the first time as it aired in the 60's.
And Galaxy Quest is one of my favorite movies.

There are Trekkies and Trekkersand they hate each other so much that they must have separate facilities at conventions. You'd think that they would be able to practice the STAR TREK philosophy and be able to come together since their differences seem so trivial, but no way.
The last con I went to they came to blows over snack arrangements. I am not making this up. I'm a fan of all things ST but I stayed far away from that insanity and hung out with LEXX and FARSCAPE on that trip. I always called myself a Trekkie in the past but that group came close to being thrown out of that con. A rose by any other namehey, that was an episode title. Season two, IIRC.
                        It was a great series.
                        Bored now.

                            Star Trek
series on Blu-ray and own DVDs for all seasons of
                            ST: The Next Generation

                            ST: Voyager
. The only series I don't own is
                            ST: Enterprise
                            . I own the books

, a documentary on Star Trek fans. However, I have never been to a Star Trek convention and I don't own a Star Trek uniform.
                            I love
                            Galaxy Quest
. It is both a satire and a homage to Star Trek.

The brilliance of this well directed and excellently written movie is that it works as a very funny comedy on its own for those who have never seen Star Trek, and is even 10 TIMES FUNNIER for Star Trek fans!

I'm not a hardcore trekkie. I think though that like most geek things there are two types, those that are able to laugh at themselves and those that can't. For example I am a D&D geek. I still get a kick out of jokes made about D&D and D&D geeks, especially the ones that have a ring of truth. I imagine that the hardcore trekkies that fall into the same category, likely LOVE Galaxy Quest.

As a hard core Trekkie, I too loved this movie. To be honest, I find Galaxy Quest is more true to Star Trek than many of the other Star Treks that came out after the original series. Along came good ol' J.J.'s "perversion" and even that was more faithful to Star Trek then the other installments.
