"This is one of those movies that is soooo baaaaddd that that it is almost good."
No, not even that. -_-
I've seen bad movies that were so bad they were "good". But this wasn't one of them. It isn't even Mystery Science Theater 3000 material. This movie should just be burned and buried and never spoke of again. -

actually the creators of Mystery Science Theater 3000 did riff Battlefield Earth
under the "rifftrax" commentary pretty funny

I wish "Mystery Science Theater 3000" was still on the air I know they'd roast this movie real good.

I read the book and I actually like it! Which is why I went to see it in the Theater at the time, and let me tell you, the Movie and the Book are almost completely different. The Movie sucks so bad. Avoid at all costs!!!! The book though was great. it's a large paperback, so a lot would have to be cut out for a Movie. It wasn't only that, but the complete B.S. Ending was completely different! There was no planes/Jets flying in the book. Read the book and forget the movie!

I saw it once on HBO or network TV. Now I can't remember anything about the movie. It may well be an intentional amnesia my subconscious created to protect me from the utter craptitude of this movie. Or maybe that there's not a single shot, a single moment, a single word of dialog that's worth remembering.

bad. if you never read the book this will be another bad 1/10 movie. if you read the book you will have thoughts about murdering people responsible for it.

Too true. Another big blockbuster movie, that should have been a 3-5 part series, was cut down to "3oh5" for the masses leaving out all the details and back story as to why Terl was showed the way he was.
As bad as the original 'Lord of the Rings' in rotoscope that told little of the story and didn't finish.

Oh, it's bad. Truly, stunningly bad. But I have to admit, I spent most of my time laughing while watching it. It was that kind of bad. Soo many things were wrong, or ridiculous, or illogical, especially on the technological and scientific side. And I could see many movies being ripped off along the way, everything from Braveheart to The Shawshank Redemption and many, many more. I enjoyed myself just identifying the many films they stole from. And Travolta's performance is so over-the-top terrible that it's hilarious. I'm looking forward to watching the rifftrax version, but even on it's own BE is crap-tacular good fun!

I read the book and just couldn't buy that a group of people essentially pushed back to the stone age could, by luck, overthrow an alien race that had bested the world's armed forces in 9 minutes. The book seemed far fetched to me, so I didn't have much need to see the movie. Then I heard the reviews - a very bad version of a book I didn't like. I skipped it. Now I'm curious to watch to just to see if it's so bad it's funny, or make a drinking game out of it.
