A better word would be pissoffandstopwatching. These "when does it get better?" threads pop up on every single show that has a loyal following, it's like subconscious trolling or something.
If someone doesn't like a show, they should stop watching it, they don't need to try and be hip by stating that what others find great is simply bland to the super-cultured new kids on the block like themselves.
When did the internet become synonymous with disrespecting everything and anything?

With respect - this is a discussion board - not a fansite. It's a means of connecting with others who may have watched a series, to seek or share viewpoints (positive or negative) or simply to ask questions. Not liking something someone else does is fine (although of course there's no need to be mean about it) - and personally I think people taking offence because someone didn't like something they did is a little naive.
Most responses have been very helpful to the questioner's perfectly legitimate question. I was the same with Farscape - it was a quaint, but not entirely absorbing, early evening viewing here in the UK.and then it really started to get into it's stride - so I can completely understand why someone might be watching it retrospectively and thinking 'why do so many people think this is great?'.
I've asked a similar question in response to a series I came late to too. If you're a few series behind - what is wrong or weird about trying to get a sense of other people's reactions - particularly given that many series are 'late bloomers'?
Personally I find it weird that some people think its offensive to not like a particular TV series or movie - but perfectly ok to be mean or nasty to real people in the real world (a statement which is probably red rag to a bull on a discussion board.

When did the internet become synonymous with disrespecting everything and anything?
Since before there was an internet. The easiest criticism is negative criticism.
I did not say this. I am not here. -

old post i know, but are you for real?
Ending with

when you opened with
pissoffandstopwatching
I actually lol'd at that.
If someone doesn't understand other people, there's no point in trying, like you do with this failed attempt:
they don't need to try and be hip by stating that what others find great is simply bland to the super-cultured new kids on the block like themselves.
So please, dont try to think. And please, shutuporberespectful.

I wouldn't say its trolling.
TV shows go on for a long time and some are initially bad or bad in the middle etc so these people are trying to check, mostly for critically acclaimed tv series or ones with cult followings, if it is worth watching for more episodes.
You won't see these threads on movies or tv shows known to be really bad. -

I didn't rate 'Farscape' to begin with, I also hated 'Buffy' (TV series, the film has always been justdreadful) and 'Blade Runner.'
After much hassling and repeated viewings, I finally saw the light- I love all of them now! I know that if something doesn't 'grab' you and you're told to keep trying, you think 'well if it's that good, I shouldn't have to make the effort' but it really is worthwhile. -

I just watched the first few episodes and I found it very amusing and fun - maybe it is not for you?
Although I agree that PK Tech Girl was the worst episode so far for me (at ep 8 now).
But I grow fond of the characters and I think that is paramount for enjoying a series.
(tried watching Battlestar Galactica, but it was trash - Farscape seems like my cup of tea.) -

I'm midway through season 4 and the only reason I've hung in there is the John/Aeryn relationship. This is some messed up Sci-fi! It's not campy or cheesy - it's just BAD! And the episodes that Ben Browder wrote are some of the worst.

I must correct myself and also disagree with most farscape fans: It does not get much better with Scorpius. I am sorry. I am in season 2 now and still waiting for it to get really good.
It is not bad though. I like all of the characters, the make up, "the muppets", the concept. Rygel is my favourite. "Human reaction" is the best episode so far and scorpius is cool.
But the writing of the show is just so mediocre and bland. It is the typical "mischief of the week" kind of structure that I find mostly boring. Style over substance.
I might keep watching, because I like the characters but I am not expecting much else. -

Farscape is one of my all-time favorite shows. That said I think it works as well as it does because of the cast and the f/x (puppets + makeup + sets) and not so much the writing that was sometimes great and sometimes just bad. Scorpius was an interesting and definitely well-played character but I remember wanting the series to be done with him several times; he grew on me eventually.
Season 3 is my favorite for the series - if you don't like that then I feel sorry for you ;> -

characters, actors, make up, puppets, fx, premise - everything is good. but if the writing is not than everything kind of collapses. I am not going to slog through several seasons for a handful of good eps.
I really wanted to like it, so I am a bit disappointed. Any mediocre TNG episode is as good as the better ones from farscape.
