i love mayonnaise- can't eat it on a burger tho.
i was once in the netherlands and if there was one thing memorable on that trip (other than amsterdam and the vibe there) would be the chip wagons with the fresh made chips smothered with mayo.
living in canada i miss that. -

I love it on fries( yes i m from Holland), but I really hate it on burgers. I actually had a similar experience (like in the movie) where I got a burger served with a huuuge amount of mayonaise on it. The whole burger was soaked! I was thinking about teling the waiter but in the end didn't. I do like cocktail sauce or something like that on a burger, but never too much..

(1) I LOVE IT!
I'm from Japan, and mayonaise is quite a common condiment there.
Mayo fanatics are called "MAYORA" or "Mayolar" in Japan.
I'm not this extreme, but some Mayolar's go over the limits when they pour mayonaise on everything they eat. From sushi to just rice Even bananas.
(And they say if you put mayonaise on bananas, it tastes like melon. I never had the guts to try this though..)
I for one am more of a parmesan cheese fanatic.
Ever try it with sushi?
I just couldn't understand why someone would hate mayonaise that much though.
There's always mayonaise in burgers in Japan. -

I'm trying to figure something out I thought this would be a good place to post it since Bruce Willis has that whole reaction to mayonaise on burgers.
Wasn't it also Perry who disliked mayonnaise, and who just within first 1o minutes of film told waitress not to put mayonnaise on his burger while he was having lunch with Amanda Peet?
And yes, I like mayonnaise, both
Tommy
(which is classic, lighter, good basis for remoulades) and
Liebig
(with its darker tone and taste that can reject an ordinary mayonnaise-lover).
Bruce declarede himself against mayonnaise on burgers and voted for ketchup.
It actually reminded me on the beginning of
Sudden Impact
(Dirty Harry sequel) when Clint Eastwood on the crime scene ask his colleague who is choking with hot dog with ketchup - "Why on earth can yoo eat ketchup on hot dogs?" (something like that). Normally, one of course eats mustard with hot dog.
I found it! Here:
Harry Callahan

Nobody, but nobody, puts ketchup on a hot dog anymore!

Every red-blooded American knows that the only condiment that you are ever supposed to put on a hamburger is KETCHUP! Or MAYBE some of that SPECIAL SAUCE you like so much here in Canada; which I think has a little bit of mayonnaise in it too! But I swear to God when they start slapping that mayonnaise on there I could kill somebody.

:::::::::I'm gonna keep the coke and the fries but I'm gonna send this burger back. And if you put any mayonnaise on it, I'm gonna come over to your house, I'll chop your legs off, set fire to your house, and watch as you drag your bloody stumps out the door.

(5) Mayonaise is probably the worst thing in the world to eat, ever. When I eat out I always ask if they have mayonaise on the food or in the dressing, 'cause even if there's just a a little mayonaise in it it'll make me sick.. Oh, and I'm European.

(1) I LOVE IT!!!! I put it on my burgers, I use extra in my tuna fish, I mix it with ketchup and dip my french fries in it, and I mix it with barbeque sauce and dip my chicken nuggets in it. My husband got me started on putting it on my grilled cheese sandwich too. Just put it between the bread, add the cheese and grill. I'm American and I honestly had no idea that mayonaise was such a big condiment in Europe but hey, sounds like my kind of a place.
