I just came back from Aruba and it was one of the most delightful experiences of my life. I stayed at the Hyatt on Palm Beach. I would definitely recommend the place to friends and will be going back myself.
Has anyone else traveled to Aruba?

Wow how ironic, my brother and his wife went to Aruba. They said that they did not enjoy it as much because the service, they say, was utterly horrible. The plce they stayed in, however, did look rather stunning.
I listened to Ozzy. Now I want to bark at the moon. -

Yes, I was in Aruba earlier this year and thought it was a dump. You stayed on the gold coast, a gated area. Protested from the rest of the island. That spot was great but the rest of the island was a deasert and a dive. I wouldn't go back there on a bet.

A dive? I love Aruba! I have been there several times, and I can't wait to go back. I was just there last month, and we stayed at the Divi Aruba Phoenix - it. was. awesome. I highly recommend staying high up in the tower.
I am not so sheltered that I can't leave the touristy areas and not appreciate the other parts of the island, where "real people live". You can't stay in cozy suburbia your whole life. Aruba's desert areas are beautiful and natural. The whole island can't be a beach
What is the gate "protecting" people from? Aruba is so laid back - it's not like Jamaica where you pretty much aren't safe leaving the resorts. A gate in Aruba is basically just to make the people behind it feel more uppity.
Incidentally, the Hyatt is not in any gated area. The gold coast gated community is a posh neighborhood near a great little public beach. Any gates you see for a hotel in that area are simply to prevent people parking in their lots to go shopping across the street.

P.S. Where did you stay - the Talk of the Town? haha
