    1. We don't know that was the exact or only reason. We know there were disputes between him and the producers or NBC. Not specifics. Maybe he was promised that amount but then they wouldn't agree to it. That would definitely piss me off. Maybe there were other things he wanted, like directing, and he wasn't allowed to. Maybe they raised Mariska's salary but not his, which would be a valid complaint since they were true equals on the show. We don't exactly why.
    2. If it was only down to money, maybe he didn't really want to stay. It's possible his attitude was, "I don't really want to stay on the show anymore, so if they don't raise my pay I'll leave because I kind of want to anyways". I actually think thats likely because he hinted before season 12 that it would be his last one, but then back tracked when fans freaked out. So I think he thought about leaving for a while.
    3. I don't think he regrets it at all. If he did, why wouldn't he come back? I think if he picked up the phone at any time during the last 6 years and said, "Hey, I'd love to return, I miss the show" they'd have done it in a second. So I don't think he's interested in returning because he simply doesn't want to.
Also, he's done fine without the show. He had good sized roles in Man of Steel and 42, two big movies that got good reviews. He had a role in True Blood, a popular show. He was on Veep, which people love. He's got a few movies coming out this year. It's not like he's struggling to find work.

I recall this being the reason he left in articles/news that was circulating at the time. Since they were co-leads, I think it's valid also. But I also think he was already mentally checked out of the show. Sure it's a nice steady paycheck but he's done a lot since then so I can't see why he'd regret doing new things. He also has a large role on Underground.

I think issue is that MH kept getting a raise, time off and more and yet they would give him the same. They were both the main stars. Yet she got favored. Apparently he wanted to direct and was told no. Yet MH gets to direct almost every damn episode it seems. He does not strike me as greedy. But after nearly 12 years on that how he deserved something! No he does regret it. He seems quite happy off the show and has said he has no plans to come back even if they asked.
So does Cardinal42 keep tab on the Episode Mariska directs?

The hosebeast has me blocked, or I'd ask why she's fan-stalking MH when she claims she's ruined everything.

Oh bull. Warren CLEARLY favored her and so does the new guy. She gets ALL the storylines and people are sick of it. WHERE did he state this? I heard he took it back. Oh PLEASE. she is executive producer. She gets to direct. DON'T tell me that it's only about money. That's beep
I never said he wasn't doing fine. now did I? In fact, I believe I SAID he was doing just fine!! Who said he hated the show? You?

Her obsession with a show "she no longer watches" is just weird. If it's not worth my time to watch, it certainly not worth my time to post and read about.

                    Exactly.
And constantly having to prove people wrong about things she claims she didn't see happen; she just read the full transcript, synopsis, and breakdown somewhere on the internet.
                    Lol.

1.That quote could have been from anyone! And the last part was speculation NOT a quote from him. Try again
                        2. That is your opinion. Not fact. You are "Sure" they made their displeasure known to him. So in other words..you don't KNOW! Again Neal Bear said he was NOT leaving. You hear what you WANT to hear lady
You THINK he wanted to leave. But again..You don't KNOW!
You keep saying "I think" or "I don't think" a lot. Meaning it's your OPINION. Not fact. As usual!

I agree Susan. Cardinal claims she hasn't watched the show in years and yet she is still here bitching and moaning and posting her "I heard" comments that are wrong about 99% of the time. And then corrects posters who are
                          actually watching the show
. Her obsession is not just weird, it's really bizarre.

Not to mention she apparently loses him! What in the hell kind of mother is she that she loses site of a toddler? You can't take your eyes off them for a second. But the slide incident does not surprise me. Olivia is all about herself and now it sounds like she is teaching Noah that he is more important and then anyone else.

I don't care HOW LONG he was missing for you dolt. YOU DO NOT TAKE YOUR EYES OF A SMALL CHILD FOR A SECOND! NO it does NOT happen to "every" parent and for you to say that is just so wrong it's not funny. Not EVERY parent loses site of their kid. NOT IF THEY ARE WATCHING THEM LIKE GOOD PARENTS SHOULD! Let me guess which parent YOU ARE! I never turn my back on my kid EVER! Olivia ac cop who deals with this kind of thing ALL the time. She of ALL people should NEVER turn her back on her kid!

Right. This was the first episode I have watched in years. I don't know why I decided to watch but I thought it was a joke that a 3 year old not only HAD money to go to the store BUT had EXACT change? Seriously? I doubt his mother left him money to feed himself. It would have been more realistic if the child had STOLEN the food since, you know, he's THREE.
And like you said that child did not look malnourished or abused. She was nicely dressed. Plus the mom claimed the ONLY reason she was being put in the cage was because the boyfriend didn't like her.The guy is dead yet the mom still keeps her in the cage? It would take YEARS for a child to get malnourished enough to die. Sorry but the story was a joke and I am sorry I watched it
Why wasn't the toddler neglected then? If the mom is a junky shouldn't BOTH kids have been near death?

Cardinal, et al, Mariska doesn't get any special favors. She was made a producer to give her additional salary after she had topped out on the earning curve. She doesn't have any additional powers on the show. She just gets more money.
Meloni stated he wanted out before season 12 started. He said it was his last year before production ever started. They left his character hanging because they thought they could entice him back for another season. They guessed wrong.
Meloni is doing fine. He has had a successful career pot SVU. He got what he wanted; e.g., out of a show he hated and into a personal and professional life he likes.
                                  Isn't that admirable?

WHERE did he state this? I heard he took it back.
He stated that to a reporter for the Courier-Mail that:
"I think 12 years is enough, a good numberThe writers will have fertile ground to figure out how to arc [Elliot Stabler] out to another placewhether it's this world or the next." Meloni wants to do theater and film projects after he leaves the long-running series.
Meloni didn't deny he said this until the executives at NBC got this huge negative backlash about losing Meloni from the show. I'm sure they made their displeasure to Meloni about his comments very clear which is why he felt he had to "walk back" his statement. Neal Baer was quoted as saying "No" when asked if Meloni was leaving SVU. Since we all know that Meloni
                                        did
leave SVU after the 12th season, I think it's obvious who was telling the truth and who was blowing smoke.
I do think Meloni wanted to leave the show. The character was getting one-note and he wanted to try new things. I think he did enter negotiations to see what they would be willing to offer to get him to stay and it wasn't enough. Whether he asked for more money or a chance to direct, we don't know because we weren't in that room with them. But I don't think he regrets leaving and feels he is done with Stabler.
