I've only seen part of the OVA so I'm not as knowledgeable about it and it's newer characters as I am with Tenchi Universe and Tenchi in Tokyo.
But yeah Kiyone wasn't created by the OVA's writer so the only chance we get at seeing her in that series is the 2nd Tenchi movie, which was never really explained why she was there lol.
I could see Kiyone falling into another dimension like you said, all they really need to do that is- One of Washu's inventions.
2.Kiyone standing close to one of those inventions.
3.Mihoshi lol, nuff said for that.
As for Tenchi in Tokyo I thought it was alright, but no where near as great in quality like the previous two.
For starters the art style, too me it just seemed to comedic looking. I mean look at Kiyone and Washu, their ears stick out like Dumbo the elephants. It also had a fuzzy sorta look to me.
Tenchi's attitude towards the girls, I know it's considered to be part of the story, but he really over did it. I can say I really started to hate his character alot.
The voice actors, this one is minor as most of the English cast remained the same. But the voice actors for Grandpa Masaki, Tenchi's dad ,Kiyone, and Mihoshi were alot better in the prievious seasons.
I also heard that some of the original voice actor for Ryoko wasn't even in the 3rd OVA which kinda dissappointed me.
Though I do agree I like how Tenchi never really resorted to violence all the way to end, most of the episodes seemed well just filler to make the series almost as long as the other two series.
- One of Washu's inventions.

The thing that annoys me are the people who knock Tenchi, ones who call him gay for acting the way he does. I read posts by retards saying "if that was me I would walk right up and" you know.do whatever bulls*** they can think of. I imagine it would go something like this. The New Tenchi Muyo series. A story about a bunch of girls who end up at some underachieving slobs house. They greet him, so he walks up and tries sexually assaulting him, then for the rest of the 20 minute episode they bludgeon him until he expires, then they go back to their home planets. The end of the series. Meanwhile Tenchi fans are pissed they spent $30 for a dvd of this tird.
On the subject of censoring anime, can you imagine what they would do to GXP if they wanted to play it on cartoon network afternoons??? Tenchi Muyo was mauled by CN, but this series makes that look tame. They would probably knock off 40 minutes of material. -

If you watch the Japanese version, it's a little less obvious that he came back because of Ryoko. The whole bit at the end is toned up in the English dub.
English Language Anime: Dub it, don't pervert it. -

well even if it's less obvious, he sits down with her at the endthat is about as much of a hint as you can getand the fact that she is the only one who tenchi can remember when he is under that lady's spell.

I just visited the movie again after all those years. I spent lots of time in my teenage years watching this series, over and over again. Even if some of the fans do not agree how this series end, I think they did a marvelous job, it gets so emotional that I was nearly crying. So much memories, Ryoko, probably is my all-time favorite anime character, I just remember being so attached to her funny faces and angry comments, the ending of the film was perfect for me. I love this freakin series, Oh Ryoko

I think if the ending doesn't show that Tenchi chose Ryoko, the credits certainly do. I mean, there's a love song playing, and it shows various clips from Universe, mostly of Ryoko. First it shows how he met Ryoko, then her "dying" and eventually coming back to him. It also juxapositions this with Yosho meeting his wife. There is a scene with Ayeka in the creditsbut it's actually the scene of Tenchi leaving her to go back to earth. So yeah, I think that makes it pretty clear.
I kind of like the fact that the movie didn't beat you over the head with the fact he chose Ryoko. In some ways, it was even more romantic because of that. I liked how subtle it was. -

i agree with you..i think over 2 years ago me just wanted it to be known that a choice was a madenow i definitely do appreciate the subtlty of it all. i do like even more though that the current Tenchi Muyo still leaves his choice open.

I think an interesting point is when Aeka finds out Tenchi has gone off somewhere, and presumably she knows Ryoko is with him, she doesnt freak out or get jealous at all.
Its almost like shes made peace with the idea of Tenchi not choosing her after all. Or thats the way it seemed to me. I could be wrong -

no that definitely seems accurate. i mean she does realize she could never have Tenchi in the first place, since she is the next in line to be Queen of Jurai and Tenchi has no aspirations to be a king. It's good to know she has accepted the fact.
