The year the movie was set in?

The trivia section here on IMDB claims that it was set in 1993, because that was the last year (at the time the film was released) that a full moon fell on the 30th of October. Was this done intentionally by Karen Walton or someone else or was it just not thought through?
Is there any hard evidence to support that it is indeed set in this year? And on a lighter note, are there any chronological errors that would put the film at a later year?
I mean, it's not too far fetched, because the first script was written back in the mid 90s. I read someone say it was from 1993, but the date on the original script says 1996 (The current or later one was 1998).

Just like you guys wanted I was able to get the original script for you which was
written in 1993
But Walton was only contacted by Fawcett in 1995. Unless it was something she had been working on before.
In January 1995, Fawcett "knew that he wanted to make a metamorphosis movie and a horror film He talked to screenwriter Karen Walton Fawcett convinced Walton this film would re-interpret the genre.

I'm answering my own question here, but I took a look at the film, and the poster that they put up when looking for Trina, gives her date of birth as 4/11/83, and it claims that she has been missing since 10/24/99. So if it's not enough that the date reads as 1999, Trina is 16 years old (I thought in one of the scripts she was 15, but anyway). If the film only took place in 1993, she would have only been 10.

Sometimes people get real literal with things like lunar cycles and mapping them out precisely.
I don't worry too much about that. In the world of this movie, there was a full moon on October 30 in 1999. If I can accept werewolves, I can accept that.
