Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Ginger Snaps

I'm really interested in their parents' reaction to Ginger's death.. because she died as a werewolf in the basement. Is that why Bridget ran away which led up to the sequel of the movie: Ginger Snaps Unleashed?

You know, I've been on this board for a while and, amazingly, this never crossed my mind once.
Her mother, in a deleted scene,
took the blame for the recent murders and got arrested
and that ties up the loose plot point rather well. Their father does, in the film, seem like a third wheel. He doesn't really serve the story purpose and he had a total of 4 lines in the entire movie so I wouldn't know how he'd react.
Although the parents were in the dark throughout the entire film and the only people who knew the entirety of what was going on was Ginger
      (dead)
      , Sam
      (dead)
      and Brigitte
      (on the run)
. Most people would assume that after fighting off the beast of Bailey Downs, the two girls skipped town. How would the father react to that? Again, we only see him for 4 lines maximum, how could we know?
Pamela, on the other hand, I think would react with
a kind of "at peace" sort of feel. She had taken the blame for the murder that Ginger committed and they were able to escape from the police that would suspect anything about them.
Although, the reason she skipped town is because of
the emotional trauma suffered from killing her sister.
That part, I thought, was clear.

As the other person said, there was a deleted scene where Pamela turned herself in for Tricia's murder. As far as their dad, he was having an affair and we don't know much after that if memory serves me right. I do question however, their reactions to Ginger and Sam.

          he was having an affair
When was that established in the movie?

They brought it up in the commentary, I remember. It might be suggested in the deleted scenes, but I don't remember anything definite.

Was this in any of the scripts? Was there a deleted scene where this came off as unsure? I'd really like to know.

Telling you the truth, I can't quite remember. I read the scripts more than four years ago. The files formats they're in don't allow a key-word search. I don't have time to go back to the commentary and deleted scenes at least until Sunday.
I seem to remember from the commentary that Karen Walton mentioned it in a deleted scene specifically, as Pamela digs up Trina's body Henry comes out and tells her he's going to play cards or something, and Karen Walton says the script had him having an affair, but I remember no other details on how it was presented in the script or scene.
I've heard it discussed before about GS, and among fans, it's not controversial. However, I've always thought of deleted scenes of having the status of "Maybe I dreamt it."

I might just watch all the deleted scenes just to be sure.

That would explain the marriage counseling the two were going through.

yes they were going to marriage counseling, so obviously they were going through some rocky times. i feel like the dad just didn't care while the mother in her own umm unique way lost herself in her daughters lives to distract herself from her unhappy marriage..but she was still clueless about her girls' lives.
Well if the mother went to jaileither the father would try to get her out or he wouldn't. Maybe he sent out search parties for Bridgett and Ginger? idki just think both the second and third GS movie leaves a lot of unanswered questions.

We don't know what Bee did with Ginger's body, if anything at all, or even Sam's body. That's the interesting thing, but the fact that she appears as a ghost in the sequel might say something not only about the way she died, but the way she was buried, or not buried.
Of course some maintain it was a hallucination and not a ghost. Hallucination might be the answer, otherwise why wasn't Sam there? Or did she (Bee) not have as close a connection with him. The whole relationship between Bee and Ginger in the sequel is quite similar to that in Terminator 2 (Sarah Connor and Kyle Reese).
If Ginger and Sam's bodies were left in the basement of the house, then I'm fairly certain that when Henry got back from his poker night (or having an affair) he would have discovered what was going on, and phoned the authorities. Rightly so, he wouldn't have known that it was indeed Ginger's body because it practically bore no resemblance to her whatsoever.
I'm also quite certain that although there were problems in their marriage, he would have tried to get a hold of Pam, and she would have phoned him or he would have gotten to her through the police, after reporting a missing person. In my experience, when something happens to someone, like if they are arrested, the police generally notify that person's family in some manner. Not that I've ever been arrested, mind! But years ago my grandfather died, and the police notified us of his passing.
I like to think that at some point, maybe not straight away, but maybe Bee would have attempted to make contact with her parents, probably from a payphone. She would not have gone back though, seeing as the police were probably looking for her, and not only because Henry likely reported her as missing, but perhaps in connection with what happened at the house.
I still wonder how Bee got out of there and left Bailey Downs, and then fled and survived all on her own. Quite a feat at only 15 years old.
