Why was the MCATS so important to Pam?

Greg lied about a lot in the movie, including giving up smoking and exchanging the cat, which was surely one of his most duplicitous acts in the grand scheme of things, and yet the one thing Pam cares about is whether Greg lied about acing the MCATS.
What a total snob! So, if Greg had been an academic mediocrity she would have dumped him?
Does Pam care about Greg's personality or how good he is at academic tests?
If I was Greg, I would have dumped her for being such a snob. It's not like she had much of a personality anyway. She was as bland as a mayonnaise and sliced cucumber sandwich. -

I don't think it was necessarily snobbish, I think she was defending his
choice
to become a nurse instead. Greg tries to explain this at the breakfast table in his pyjamas but just gets ignored. I see it more as she picked up on that and was trying to prove a point to her "snobbish" family. -

I think it wasn't that I think it was that he was lying the entire time they were there and finding out that he lied about those too would make her think he's been lying to her their entire relationship about everything

That's a good point assuming you're right. I suppose she'd be relatively okay with him lying simply because he was scared and intimidated by her father during the weekend, but it would be a problem if he'd been lying to her from the start.

There are cultures where females do put a lot of weight on what males do, to even consider having a relationship with them. It's not really that YOU would dump them, they would not mind what you do. Really, if Greg is like most guys out there, he wants to do whatever he can to keep Pam. Females seem to always be in demand and males not so much (the sad truth). So if it came down to doing well on tests, he would have to, if he wanted to keep Pam. At his age, if he was never in a relationship, he would have to take whatever he got. It is surprising that Pam was not a.) all ready knocked up or b.) all ready married off to someone else.
