The non-Italy scenes were off and mostly bad. I think the entire film should have been set in Italy with the Pazzi story

No. Not really. It was filmed beautifully for sure but I found Clarice ' s journey in the basement far from boring. And of course everything involving Verger was interesting, albeit disturbing. Then you forget the entire third act at the summer house on the lake. That didn't take place in Italy and was a very effective ending.

While I like the parts of the movie that don't take place in Florence, I do agree that the best parts of it are the Italian ones. Florence looks amazing, there's the Pazzi storyline, and Hannibal just looks more menacing and interesting in general in this bit.

Just got back from 5 days in Florence and found that it's virtually impossible to take a photograph there that's anything less than breathtaking. The place is just stunning, no wonder the USA section pales in comparison.

Are you sh!tting me? The Italian actors were AWFUL, and the idea that some top cop detective is gonna try to cash in on reward money in such sneaky manner was just ridicolous
Especially since he seemed quite rich regardless randomly going to the Opera (expensive) like it was no big thing and his girlfriend looked like she'd be high maintenance for the wallet as well.
And he just went on about it as well in a utterly stupid fashion.
We crash into each other, just so we can feel something.
