There isn't a shot in this movie that doesn't have a logo in it. I know, in real life there are logos and products everywhere, but Bounce fabric softener on display on the wall inside a fancy private jet? Please

I think you need to re-watch the movie. The product placement is what made me fall in love with this movie. The movie was making fun of advertisement.

Yeah, that's the point. It's a satire of how inundated our society is with advertising, to the point that we don't even notice it because it's so cleanly woven into our environment.
        Really, an underrated film.

Yea, I think that's kind of the point. This movie is some what about subliminal messages. So by having a lot of advertisements in there, they're trying to get people to buy things. It's like a big subliminal message worked into the film.

And according to the commentary, they didn't get one cent for all of the product placement in the movie.

it was meant to seem shoved down our throats, just as the music was pushing others to do things with the messages of what the industry wanted shoved down the listeners throats. lol

The first time I saw this movie, I came on here and saw under trivia that some 73 companies had their products in the movie. I didnt believe it could be that many, so I counted. I know, how sad is that haha. But amazingly, it did come to exactly 73, which I thought was odd because I couldnt have gotten them all. Its pretty bad, I havent seen product placement like this in any other movie.

It's the whole point of the film! It's about being brainwashed and the obvious product placement was a running joke. What's not to get? It was glaringly obvious, haha.

Even if you haven't seen or heard of this a trailer for the movie, here's where your supposed to realize it's a satire. The very first scene when they reveal the members of the hottest boy band are Seth Green, Donald Faison and Breckin Meyer.

The corporate logos were used as commentary on our culture. The scene in the aquarium is very tragic. You see a deep connection and love between the Josie and male character, but in the distance there is an evian logo. Even in such a beautuful and pure enviroment, like a deep sea aquarium, the youth could not escape the corporate capitalistic system they have been born into and don't even realize. This film is more of a tragic black comedy than a silly kids movie to me, where all the characters act oblivious and silly, when the world around them is not entirely what it seems. Really the world they know has been brainwashed into their skulls by marketing and advertising companies since they were children. Think, the younger generations have been born into this mass culture of self absorbtion and delusion. They can't remember a simple time, where the stuff we see on a daily basis was not as dominant in our lives, because they weren't born in that time. And with each generation this "normalcy" of our culture just reinforces itself with each new batch of kids being born each year.

That was done purposely, to make fun of the entertainment industry (movies, music, etc)

The whole movie is a commentary on how music today is entirely trend-driven/commercialized and not at all heart-driven.

The blatant nature of the advertisements was intentional. They were making fun of American consumerism.

                                    That was the point!
Why does everyone always site that as one of the reasons the movie is bad. Watch the movie, that's the whole point behind the movie!
