It is beyond a doubt it influenced it and that has been said since the beginning. Hell, it also takes things from Brave New World, 1984, and THX 1138.

I have only seen one of the 3 movies you mentioned. It was THX 1138, I don't know what Brave New World is About or 1984. I did hear that 1984 was a good movie though, I was disappointed in THX, but Lucas made up for it with the Star Wars saga. It is strange that when something is forbidden we will find a way to defy law and order. The old saying still is key in both these movies,
rules/laws were made to be broken

Brave New World, needs a proper rendition.

haha, if you seen or read Orwell's 1984, you would not say that. The System tends to break the individual.

Equilibrium has a happy ending, there s no happy ending in 1984, unfortunately

I just watched Brave New World on You Tube yesterday, the 3 hr version. It was very different/ somewhat strange; but I enjoyed 60 % of it. I still want to see 1984 though. Have U ever seen that movie Brave New World? Equilibrium & BNW have some similarities when it comes to laws/order; but that is it. They are two way different movies and I think Equilibrium is way better.

Brave New World needs to be interpreted for the screen
Equilibrium is more like Logan's Run, both with a happy ending

                    You have to be trolling.
Please, tell me that you're a troll.
You know why this movie reminds you of Truffaut's adaptation of the classic novel Fahrenheit 451? Perhaps because it's A beep DYSTOPIAN FILM. You act as if this is a novel concept, when in reality elements of dystopia can be found in various forms of art for 150+ years (and even that number seems relatively low.) Dystopian novels (and their wholly inferior film adaptations) have always been notorious for near-plagiarism. This goes as far back as Orwell's 1984, and the accusations that it was simply a ripoff of Zamyatin's We in spite of his claim that he had never heard of We prior to writing the novel. Equilibrium is perhaps the worst offender of all, not just because it's nothing more than a throwback to dystopian literature, but because it's beep awful and full of plot holes that effectively negate its message.
Quite frankly, it shocks me that anyone as clearly dense as you has even heard of Truffaut's Fahrenheit 451. Your comparison to Nazi GermanyI won't even touch that.
"I wonder if Fahrenheit 451, was a factor in creating Equilibrium? I think it was, what does everyone else think?"
I beep WONDER! A movie that's clearly a throwback to several entries in the genre? Could it possibly have been inspired by one of those entries?
"I did hear that 1984 was a good movie though"
This. Calling 1984 a "good movie" is as insultingly ignorant as referring to Star Wars fanfiction as if it were superior to its source material.
"I was disappointed in THX, but Lucas made up for it with the Star Wars saga"
                    facepalm
"It is strange that when something is forbidden we will find a way to defy law and order"
No, it isn't. Not. At. All.
"I will have to rent that movie. I guess if I liked Equilibrium I will like 1984?"
If you liked Equilibrium, don't bother with 1984, especially the book. You won't understand it.
"I just watched Brave New World on You Tube yesterday, the 3 hr version. It was very different/ somewhat strange; but I enjoyed 60 % of it. I still want to see 1984 though. Congratulations for drudging up an incredibly obscure BNW adaptation. You know what you could have done instead? Read the beep book. To say that Equilibrium is "way better" than a forgotten BNW adaptation from the 80s, is to insult both.
I am sorry for the profoundly negative nature of this post, but jesus christ! Know your sh*t before you post on imdb like a jackass. We have the internet for god's sake. None of the information I spouted off would take more than 30 seconds to find online. That's just laziness.

I do know my S##T Mr. . Negative; and I have seen Brave New World and liked it up to the end. I have gotten positive reviews from my comparison of Equilibrium to Fahrenheit 451. I plan on seeing 1984, and I am sure I will understand it. I am sorry you are so negative toward others, you were probably unpopular in school. I have some advice to you, you get more bees with honey than you do with vinegar.
BTW Ur the Jackass, U arrogant piece of S##T!

This reply makes me very sad. You clearly missed the point of my entire post. This is not entirely surprising, since you came back with the "I bet you weren't popular in high school" defense, which isn't even an acceptable rebuttal from a teen with Asperger's. I suspect that you read nearly none of my post, either because of incapability, or because you simply turn your brain off when someone starts being a Debbie Downer.

U threw the first stone and were very negative toward me. U did not mention your disability at first, instead you went on the attack. I have been there and I know what it's like, if you attack someone they will attack back. You should know the old saying people who throw stones shouldn't live in glass houses. Please treat people the way you would like to be treated. BTW, I am not a troll and I do not turn of my brain. If you are nice to others they will be nice to you, remember that.

A windbag is typically overly wordy, and my last post was incredibly short. I find that insult unjustified.
Regardless, this movie does remind me WAY TOO MUCH of FAR TOO MANY classics from the 1960's. I'm usually not one to blow the whistle on the whole "Battle Royale came before The Hunger Games!" argument, but Equilibrium rips off too much material at once in a very general way, leaving me feeling empty and cheated. Equilibrium is a terrible movie, and if you disagree, check RT or metacritic.
As for growing up, I'm working on that, and so are you.
Do I have to deconstruct that wordplay?
