He was probably going to use it on Hannah like planned, but thanks to Sunday (and possibly others) throwing Ken's name out, Adam convinced him to change it.

Right?! Why in the world would Sunday say "Yeah, Hannah we are voting for you!" Like no! That doesn't happen at all. Davids heart was in the right place but he should've stuck to his original plan to save Hannah! Such a waste of an idol. That is the second time that David has done that.

It was Adam's fault.
Did he have any clue that the plan was to vote out Ken? Because if that's the first time they've heard of it, then it's obvious that was a lie.

I don't get why Adam suddenly thought Ken was being voted out when he never heard his name spoken, let alone only 3 people said it. If he really was that worried, he had an idol to play himself, but oh well. Sucked to see Jess go like that, although I didn't think she'd be able to win. The moment I saw her saying she didn't want to go to rocks, I had a bad feeling she was about to get her dreams crushed.
Didn't help Bret was being an ass, but nothing new there.

Adam was just so happy to feel useful and didn't stop and think that he was being played. Why get rid of Ken in that moment when they were gunning for david and hannah or even JEss? Ken was at the bottom of the list.

Adam is such a bumbler. He really tries too hard. He has an inkling of understand the game, but his application of it is too much. He needs to learn patience.

Actually, the idol saved Ken. It could just of easily have been Ken who picked the Black Rock instead of Jessica, and a totally different remainder of the season would have followed as a result.

Looking at it literally, the idol did save Ken, but if David had played it for Hannah as originally intended, they would not have gone to rocks at all.
