This movie makes those scooby doo movies look smart. The plot makes absolutely no sense. At least the film is unpredicta

I am finishing the book and it is a difficult read. I suspect the movie will be better, but I hope they include the sub-plot with Mrs. Adair.
Since I am not familiar with this battle in Sudan, it was diffcult to follow in the book. I'm hoping the screen will bring it to life.
Can't wait to view the movie. -

What was really stupid about this movie was.well, more than one, but why in the world does Heath Ledger go and join his nations army, and then remain incognito? Is going to regain his pride by staying hid? WOW, this was stupid!

Agreed that regaining his honor would have been a lot easier to get back should he have just returned to his post with the army, but I think that it was more of a character developement to show how horrible he realy did feel. It wasn't that he couldn't face his friends that thought he was a coward because he even feels bad for leaving Jack, especially Jack, and couldn't bring himself to face his fear. As he said to Abou, it's a different kind of fear. I think that he couldn't return to his friends yet because he didn't discover who he was yet and so he didn't want to just be who he is expected to be, just because he was expected to be it. I enjoyed the movie immensley and I haven't seen anyother versions of it. Even if I had, I think it is better to watch the movie as it's own thing and not try to compare them.

the other thing to consider about jack regaining his honor was that he wanted to do it on his terms, conceivably he did so outside of the army because it was all a part of his self discovery. the army was his life, all that he knew, so he likely wanted to regain his honor in another way. that and had he returned to his unit it wouldnt have been as interesting

I didn't think it was that bad. I personally don't like to watch war movies. But I have to say I did like it better than Troy. I know movies like Platoon and Casualties of War, even Apocalypse Now are in the different league; however I could only watch it once and never want to see it again. Same goes for The Deer Hunter. It's too much for me to handle. Four Feathers is almost like a mythical tale like Troy, Gladiator, and 300, although it did base on historical facts (not the characters).

I was really looking forward to watching this film today. For the most part it was really good. Heath Ledger breaks my heart. What a terrible tragedy. He is wonderful in this film. Kate Hudson??? The Brits must get pretty mad when they have so many really gifted actors and they put someone like Kate in a role like this. Terrible, terrible accent and performance. I really like her in other films, but here - NOT! I thought the same thing when I saw robert Downey Jr in Sherlock Homes. Brits can do American accents but I haven't seen very many Americans doing Brits well, and I am an American.
