I liked the whole lot (Apart from the last episode) but that's because I hate Voyager and saw this as a nice counter to it.

It does help if you like Trek, there are little nods here and there to appreciate if you do, but it's easily watchable on its own (Apart from the last episode) and is a fine show in my opinion.
It's a Trek not too far away from where we are now…by about 150 years or so.
