Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Star Trek: Enterprise

    scubadivergeek — 9 years ago(September 26, 2016 08:56 PM)

According to Memory Alpha, both LeVar Burton (who directed the episode) and Brannon Braga (one of the producers) were embarrassed by this episode. Braga reputedly said it was one of the worst episodes of Star Trek, period, that he had been involved in.
What was so bad about this one episode? I rather thought it was pretty good.
If there's anything to be embarrassed about int he Trek universe, it's the fact that nobody ever thought to simply shut off Data every time he started rambling on about inconsequential trivia (or at least incorporate something into the show whereby he actually learns that people tend to find such ramblings tedious).

I think extinction did a better job than TNG's Genesis at least Archer and the others had some lasting effects of the transformation that continued into the next episode and wasn't cured like nothing had happened where an entire crew was infected.

Yeah Data can sometimes be tedious but the most embarrassing moments of Trek involve Data.

It seemed like an episode that could be embarrassing to act on. I remember thinking that when I saw it. But I did't think it was a bad episode, I just wondered how many retakes they had to do due to laughing on the set.

I for sure found the makeup disturbing especially Hoshi's. Their eyes were freaky!

Is that the one where Archer and Hoshi turn into another species? If it is, then I have no idea. I enjoyed the episode, and I thought the actors did a good job with it. Is there something I am forgetting that would be an issue? It's been a while since I saw it.
There are definitely some (offensive) episodes in Star Trek that I would think would be far more embarrassing.

Captain Rex: In my book, experience outranks everything.
            Star Wars: The Clone Wars

He must have forgotten about Threshold. Now that was embarrassing.
It's been a long time since I saw this episode, and while it doesn't stand out to me as particularly special, I don't think it was that bad either.

When I re-watched the series, I skipped it. Corny beyond description.

I've only watched all of the episodes once when it was on the air originally but I am enjoying the repeats when I can see them. I really enjoyed seeing when they grew the clone of Trip.
I liked the whole idea of it especially when Sim told T'Pol how he felt and when she gave him the farewell kiss. But gee, couldn't she have gone a little further with him? Trip wouldn't have known.

For Levar it could have been it as much of a rehash of TNG season 4 episode Identity Crises but that's grasping at straws a bit. S3 has worse episodes Exile tops my list.
