In Kids, he didn’t even have real feelings for those girls, but in this, it seemed like he cared about Vi.

Well, his character had cerebral palsy, and it affected his facial muscles, so it would be harder for him to smile. However, he did crack a smile when one of the students complemented his story.

I thought that, too. When the camera panned down to him in the first scene, he seemed to be looking away from his girlfriend.

It was definitely acted. Although, I do think it looked real, but I’m sure Todd Solondz wanted it to look that way.
