One thing I liked in this movie that they haven't done in this movie is emphasize the popular girl/guy in school. All teeny bopper type movies always focus on popularity. But this didn't and I appreciated that. I can honestly tell you that my highschool didn't have one single popular person as they always show in the movies. Not all the football players were cool. And it wasn't uncommon for a rocker type person to date an athlete. It also didn't show popularity affecting their relationship or anything, as many other movies do. Kudos.

Great point. totally agree. She was attractive without the popular cliches. and he was a football player without the jock-type cliches in the film.

Yea, I actually liked that a lot about the film. Though both couldve easily been the popular types, they both shed away from that and went together. Kirsten Dunst said she was tired of those type of roles and wanted to do something different to which the director had seen her in a selfdestrutive role in the Virgin Suicides and thought she could be good in more of those type of roles. Lucky for us.

This is probably a generalisation. Most schools usually have the most attractive people be the most popular and go together. You were probably one of the fortunate ones.
