Since this film came about in 2002, I haven't heard of this type of scenario(the scene where Q finds out he's only covered for 20k)ever happening before the Affordable care act aka Obamacare came into play. Can you all share a link to where this scene actually happened?! I'm eager to see!! Please do share!!

Are you asking for the scene in the movie or for a real life story in which something like that actually happened to someone?

Yes to the second part. Any real life incidents where something like this happened(insurances changing policies without notifications)??

I haven't heard about such cases, and Im sure if it happened the insurance would be exposing themselves to a very juicy lawsuit. But I have heard over and over about insurance trying to screw over their clients shamelessly, about how they will keep making up ridiculous excuses to avoid paying up hospital bills and such, and often people will have to get their lawyers involved to force them to fulfil their obligations. And Im guessing that's what actually happened to Denzel's character, and his insurance was just trying to mask it by beep him about change of politics and such.
Have you had any bad experiences with insurances or are you just being curious?

I think the best people to consult, looking for real life examples, would be healthcare professionals. Doctors, nurses, surgeons or anyone that works in a hospital.

There were all types of insurance policies then. In college I had a bare minimum catastrophic policy. It was all I could afford. I think it covered about 40K. I would have been in the same situation if I needed a transplant.
