I'm not in your way, Jamasian. I don't like being told I'm not a true fan because I don't care for the manga. Others might be a lot less polite about it than me. If you want your opinion respected, you have to learn to frame it in a way that is not offensive to the people you hope to influence.

That was in a different post and I got a bit carried away. I consider someone to be a true fan when they go out of their way to go out and grab the story from the original source.
For example, someone who watches the Harry Potter movies is a fan of Harry Potter.
But someone who has seen all the movies and read all the books, I would consider them a bigger fan because they wanted to get the source material the movies were based on a get a more detailed and grandiose experience of the same thing.
So I would consider you, Zana862, to be a true fan of Trigun because you have seen both the anime and read the manga.
Other people who haven't read the manga are still fans of the Trigun, but I wouldn't consider them bigger fans than I or you, or that other guy who agrees with me. We've experience Trigun in all its formats, as an anime show and a manga.
That is why I'm on the Trigun anime board, trying to recommend the manga to those who have seen the anime. I like to think its really good too, and fans of the anime show would be missing out if they never read the manga.

It's always a good idea to read the manga for an anime, or for that matter, to see the anime if you've read the manga. Usually the two go together in some way and sometimes you can get a better feeling for the story or the characters. My personal feeling is that I didn't like the manga, but someone else may love it as much as you do. On those grounds, I would agree with you that people should read the manga. Peace?

Old thread, I know, butI honestly didn't like the manga as much as the anime.
I agree that people should give both a chance, but in my opinion, the anime is better. Better pacing, better action, better characterizations, better relationships between the characters, etc.
I liked the mangajust not as much as the anime.
I'm not the only one with a little bit of [crap] in their pants, now am I?

the anime needed the legato and vash fight, that was the only thing I hated about the anime

due to animation constraints? The anime was made in 1998, the manga kept going until 2008

I mean that they totally could have had at least 2 seasons if they followed the story in the manga. They completely cut out entire plotlines and characters.
They went in a different direction and made it into its own thing.
I like both, but I really enjoyed the manga.

Haha I know what you mean, I just meant to say that the reason there's more to the manga is because they gave the anime its own ending, while the manga went on for 10 years after the anime ended.
Anyways, i used to own the first two volumes of the manga (but lost them both somehow) and have seen most of the anime, but never finished either, so I can't really give my opinion on which I preferI do imagine that I would like the manga more, however.

The manga and anime are wildly different, but both are excellent.
The manga has a lot more content, more development for the gung-ho guns, and an entirely different ending. It also features a few more characters not in the anime, and the anime vice versa.

Gotta agree with Zanza. The anime is infinitely better than the manga. Wolfwood's death has more meaning, Millie and Meryl are actually fleshed out characters and the final two episodes do more for Vash's character than anything in the manga.
