I'm sorry MalRey_11, but that's possibly the worst cast thought of so far.

Neon Genesis Evangelion is the worst anime show ever created.

You're not willing to put one out there for ridicule yourself, but you'll sit back and bash everyone else's.

MalRey_11, you're overreacting. This is a message board so you should be able to handle response's like that a lot better.

I, too, would like to see a Trigun movie, but I would also like to direct it, and I won't be able to do that for several years, after I graduate. I don't think that your cast choices are the best, mainly because the actors are probably too old for the parts, I mean, at the oldest, most of the characters look to be in their late twenties. The way I had pictured it was to have two movies, like there were two series of manga, with the second one being more mature than the first. These are just some of my ideas, of course, but I am a bit of a perfectionist sometimes. By the way, can I read your script?

No arguments here. It's hard to argue a cast really until after you see it happen. I mean, how many people out there bashed Raimi's pick of Tobey Maguire as Spidey, and then Tobey made the role his own? Perhaps the biggest casting call of Raimi's career. At this point I don't think I could picture anyone else as Peter Parker.
The way I see it, a Trigun flick should go for a younger cast, preferably on the up-and-coming side of things.
                Anyway, here's a cast I could see.
Vash - Justin Long (Live Free or Die Hard)
(In the running: Heath Ledger, Ryan Gosling)
                Wolfwood - Hugh Jackman
                (In the running: Keanu Reeves)
Knives - Shia LaBeouf. I can see some of you scratching your heads even now, but here's a guy that casts and crews love, a guy who will steal the show when he's onscreen. I think there's potential here for a fan favorite. I'd love to see Shia tackle a bad guy myself.
                (In the running: Hayden Christensen)
These are the guys I would hit up for the three primary roles. I'm not so much on an opinion of the other characters. I'd love to see Johnny Depp as Legato or Jake Gyllenhaal as Midvalley, but those are as generic as they come as far as fan casting goes.
Hey, come to think of it, Ryan Reynolds would make an interesting Midvalley.

My husband and I were just talking about this subject last night after I watched the series for the first time. I loved it and have to admit to having a bit of a cartoon crush on Wolfwood. Here's the line up we came up with.
Vash-Owen Wilson (that was my husband's pick.I don't see it. I like the idea of Heath Ledger though)
Wolfwood-Alex O'LoughlinI also like Hugh Jackman
                  Meryl-Selma Blair
Milly-i don't think we decided on her yet
Knives-I said Luke Wilson just to be funny, but really Christian Bale would be awesome
I don't know really but I think someone should really try to get the idea going. It would be great to see it work out as long as they had a really good cast, writer, & director.

I think James Macavoy would make a great Vash or Wolfwood.

The problem is the last live anime movie was Dragonball Z. And that movie turned to crap.A studio would see making another amine movie as risky. It would probably be low budget and straight to dvd. So you might not be able to have the best actors.

When they run out of good comic books to produce into action flicks, they'll only have one place to go.
Half the problem with these types of anime is that they are built on an intense depth of character which doesn't translate well from a 26 episode story arc down to a 2 hour movie or even a couple movies (while still making the first movie strong).

I can definitely see Adrien Brody as Wolfwood. He has the right look. And he was pretty bada** in
                              Predators
, so he could definitely pull off an action role really well.

I'm all for seeing a Live action Movie of Trigun. It'd could be a great movie if done right. Though I'm not quite sure it could be done in two or three movies. I'd be happy enough if it was one movie and somewhere between two and a half to maybe three and a half hours. In anycase if done right it would be a awesome movie as the story is great.
As for actors I'm not very picky as long as the producer and director didn't choose any really big names for it. Big name actors are cool and all but once they get big they tend to get a little too cocky and find themselves thinking their better then the movie their acting in. So IMO it's better to find some great or almost great no names who will try their hardest to make the movie as good as possible. And in the process possibly make a classic that'll be remembered for a long time.

I think the future of the live anime remakes lies in the hands of the creators of Cowboy Bebop (assuming it doesn't get canned during pre-production). If that movie works you could see a wave of anime movies not unlike the wave of superhero movies after the massive success stories of Raimi's Spider-Man and Nolan's Batman franchises.

After seeing the series here's what I think would work:
Vash: Josh Hutcherson (Plays both comedic and action roles, yep, he fits) or Chris Hemsworth (Right age and a big badass)
                                    Knives: Christian Bale (Enough said)
Meryl: Olivia Wilde (She was fantastic as Quorra in Tron Legacy; she also fits the bill for Meryl)
Milly: Dianna Agron (Having popular TV actresses never hurt)
Wolfwood: Joseph Gordon-Levitt (Judging from his character in Inception, Wolfwood's a perfect match for him)
Legato: Cillian Murphy (Creepy as hell in Red Eye and Batman Begins)
Chapel: Christopher Lloyd (Definitely could work there after seeing Roger Rabbit)
Directed by: The Coen Brothers, Robert Rodriguez, or myself, lol

Unless English isn't your native language you should have no excuse as to why you would call yourself a writer and disgrace the English language like this in the same post.
