Eureka 7 is pretty amazing so far :). I thought the kids were annoying at first. I realized pretty quickly that they did

Oh I totally forgot about Red Garden! I saw that one- yeah, it was happening in the US.
I thought Gungrave was set in Japan, I can't remember why at the moment Maybe I am wrong though.
Vampire Hunter D is happening in a different universe (imaginary universe), I think they call it Frontieres or something like this.
But then, it depends if we want to count series that happen in imaginary places/countries- there is LOADS. Like Escaflowne that starts off in Japan but most of it happens in this country of which the name I cant remember at the moment. Or FMA, etc.
Well, Gunslinger Girl is an interesting but un-enjoyable series. I recently had a discussion about it, and it actually is a lot deeper than I would have judged, BUT I still will not force myself to watch the second season. I disliked the characters and the plot was only OK, and I can't be bothered now to sit in front of the TV with a magnifying glass to look for all the little hints and clues.
I am watching Toward the Terra now. I am surprised how much I am drawn into it. It did not start off so well, the whole thing looks as if it was done 20 years ago (style and music), but it is oh so good! Really good plot, and although I have not seen the original film, I am really enjoying it.
So what have you got planned in the nearest future? Eureka will take you a while, although once you get to episodes 35/37, it will be difficult to stop. Have you seen Charles and Ray yet? They are my favourite anime couple ever! We should so mane it the next "what is your favourite"- so what are your favourite couples in anime? Regardless if they did or did not end up together. -
Force_of_Legend — 14 years ago(September 10, 2011 09:20 AM)
Is Red Garden any good? I keep seeing it on Amazon, but I keep going around it lol. Well I think the reason you think Gungrave was set in Japan was because Bear Walken's house looked like it was built in Japan on top of that building. Other than that visually I am not quite sure where to place the city. Parts of the city kind of remind me of the Mediterranean the way the buildings are laid out.
Oh I didn't realize Vampire Hunter D took place in another universe! I need to catch up on my reading lol. Tyrant's Stars just came out on amazon!
Eureka 7 seems to take place on another planet. right now I am on episode 32. 20 more to go! The series just keeps getting better! Charles, and Ray were a fantastic story arc! I cannot believe that
it ended so quickly! Very sad, and gruesome for way for them to go!
. I have to be honestRenton is young, and I realize a bit naive. However I find him to be somewhat annoying. Also Holland up until episode 24ish I found him to be a jerk. I understand his reasons now. So I am starting to like him more.
Gunslinger Girl does look deep, and sad. However I think I will keep that one on hold. Next anime I will be watching will be Galaxy Railways, then Nabari no Ou, followed by Baldr Force. Have you seen any of those?
Also while looking up Toward the Terra I found a anime called Guin Saga? Anime News Network gave it raving reviews? Have you seen it?
Well I am off to enjoy my weekend! I hope you are having a good day my friend! Take care!
Have a nice Day

Red Garden is not bad. I quite enjoyed it although I would not say it was the best thing I have ever seen in my life. Good entertainment, but I thought the ending sucked a bit and they left a few things unexplained (not as in open questions, but they did not make sense to start with).
With Eureka 7, I think they do explain at one point it kind of takes place on Earth, but you will have to wait and see. I actually did not realise that for a long time. I really loved that series. THe thing with Charles and Ray is that at first I really disliked them (well, I liked them until they broke into Gekko state), and I never knew why Ray had such strong hatred towards, and then when you find out what the real story was, I actually could not stand Holland and Eureka any more. I could really sympathise with Ray, she would have been a splendid mother, and they would be able to provide Renton with a real family. The last scene when Ray was looking for her arm with the ring was so sad Also what happened to Charles' body BTW, you still have not picked your favourite anime couples/duets
Never heard of Guin Saga, I must look it up. Never heard of the other series you mentioned too! I checked them out on ANN, and I put Nabari no Ou on my to watch list. -
Force_of_Legend — 14 years ago(September 13, 2011 12:13 PM)
I thought about watching Red Garden, but I dropped the idea in favor of watching better looking series. I heard it was decent, but I would rather spend time watching good to great series!
So I never did get what Holland, and Eureka actually did? Maybe they haven't fully explained it yet? Funny thing is I am liking Holland more now that he is protecting Renton, and acting like a big brother to him. The part where Ray was looking for her severed arm with her wedding ring was very sad. At first I didn't realize that Her arm was missing until she found it. That episode was pretty sad. Right now I think I am on episode 40? I just saw how Norb met his love (can't remembe her name.) and was she the first humanoid Coralian?
I read some really wonderful things about Guin Saga. I read it is one of the best anime fantasy epics. Nabari No Ou looks funny, however I read that it gets quite serious. I saw a trailer for it on one of the Full Metal Alchemist Blu Rays that I have. Galaxy Railways looks good too. The same creator did Captain Harlock, Inerstellar 5555, and something else lol. Let me know when you get Nabari No Ou. Also I think it would be in your best intrest to check out Guin Saga. I heard the story is amazing!

There definitely are better series than Red Garden, but it is a decent one.
Apart from that, I just finished Steins;Gate- it run over the past few seasons and was absolutely brilliant! Smart, intelligent, funny and dramatic. I was so glad I picked it up, great entertainment and some really good characters. I also finished No.6 which was totally rubbish, started very well and then went downhill with an incredible speed. I am trying to get through Mushi-shi at the moment, but it is a bit slow.
Well, think they did say that Eureka did not do anything on purpose, but during one of the experiments lead by Renton's dad she provoked some sort of explosion that made Ray infertile. And then Eureka and Holland belonged to the squad that was wiping out the rebels, so they did not really have that great of a past. I did not like Holland at first, he did behave like such a spoilt brat and definitely abused his power when it came to taking his anger out on Renton; I also was not fond of Eureka for behaving the way she did. I was glad to see Renton leave the Gekko at one point and hoped he would settle with Charles and Ray. But i started liking Holland when he actually acted like an adult. I think the whole crew grew up at one point- including Talho and her image change.
I think Norb's lover was indeed the first Coralian, but the did not manage to do whatever they supposed to. SO you're about to finish the series soon? I was so sad when it ended! -
Force_of_Legend — 14 years ago(September 17, 2011 01:44 PM)
What us Steins Gate about? speaking of Mushi-shi I almost purchased that when I bought Galaxy of Railways, and Nabari. But I was trying to keep the cost down. I remember the first episode was hypnotic. It just kind of drew you in. Although being very slow. I hope the series is just in episodic format. I hope there is a broader story behind the creatures.
Eureka was amazing! Absolutely wonderful! The ending had a lot of impact. Surprisingly one of the scenes that I enjoyed the most was when Dominic saves Anemone! At first I really didn't care for Anemone, but I did like Dominic. One of the sweetest scenes that I have ever seen was when Anemone told Dominic that she couldn't hear him, and then kissed him on the forehead. That brought a big smile on my face :). I am glad that things turned out well for them!
Actually I wonder if the first Coralian was Gonzy. That was quite a surprise. However it makes since seeing as how whenever anyone was upset he would appear to offer them tea. I think it was him that saved everyone. He was probably communicating with the Scub Coral the whole time.
I felt the same about Holland. I liked him in the end thoughTalho was great. I did miss her teasing Renton though! So tell me
Eureka, and Renton survived, and didn't become "one" because Nirvash saved them? That was the impression that I got. What are your thoughts?
.
Well now I am trying to decide what to watch nextShould I watch Nabari, or Galaxy Railways? I would like to watch Nabari a long side you so we can discuss it. I think I will do that. I would like to take a break from sci fi for my next anime outing :).

Unicorn_Blade — 14 years ago(September 17, 2011 04:18 PM)
Steins Gate is about a group of friends who invented a time machine. Well, at first it is only a microwave oven that enables them to send text messages to the past and it looks really funny, but then it gets more and more serious- they change the future and need to get back to the starting point, but at the same time it means erasing memories of the time they spent together; they also discover a conspiracy and find themselves in a big danger too. I love how the show mixed the drama and comedy; if you ever have a chance to watch it, I can recommend. I think you might enjoy it.
I have just started watching Kaiba. A true gem, after the two not so good series (Blood-C is almost over, but I do not think it will get any better. It is really gory and quite pointless at this stage, very slow and with only two episodes to go, I suspect we will find all the answers in the last 5 seconds of the show), I was very pleased with it. The animation is stylised for an old one, kind of like Metropolis; it is set in a world where you can extract memories and implant them into a different bodies, and privilege people use it to control societies. I was not in a good mood when I was watching the first episode and did not get what was going on, but now I really enjoy it.
So you finished with Eureka 7! Aww, I would love to have more time to rewatch some episodes. You know the song that is featured in the last 10 minutes of the last episode, I love it so much. I think I mentioned it to you when I was watching the series, I am not at all into techno/dance music, but this melody fitted in so well! I actually am not too sure about the ending. It seems Renton and Eureka
came back to Earth, but they are neither Coralians neither human for whatever reason. I wonder whether they will ever reunite with the kids
Oh btw do NOT watch the movie Eureka 7, not good.
I never really liked Anemone, but Dominic being unable to read a map was quite funny. I liked the parallel between Renton/Eureka and Dominic/Anemone.
I do not even know what I want to watch next. Now I only watch anything at all during the weekends, so it takes me ages to finish up longer series. I would like to get Nabari after Im done with Kaiba and Mushi-shi, but I also want to see what is going to be up this coming season, I now try to watch one or two current anime if they are released on crunchyroll and know what is going on out there. A new spin off Last Exile is coming out in October, and I wanted to see how it will be!
I just looked up, we should celebrate the anniversary of this thread that was in July

I am sorry! I missed the celebration! Lets keep it going! I want to hit two years!
How have you been?
In my long absence I have seen Mushi-Shi (Masterpiece), Night Raid:1931 (Excellent), Corpse Princess (Decent), Angel Beats (Awesome), Guin Saga (Amazing), and now I am starting Guyver: Bio Boosted Armor (Cool so far).
What have you been up to? See any good anime?

Hey! Nice to see you.
I have seen loads- I have also finished Mushi-shi and Night Raid, but I was not in love with the second one- I liked how it started, kind of like Baccano!, but all in all it was inferior to it. I have finished the second season of Last Exile (not as good as the original). I have also seen Another, if you like horror anime, I can recommend, it is a bit gory though Some slice of life came my way, I think I rated Hanasaku Iroka close to a masterpiece, really enjoyed it, and Kimi ni Todoke was really funny as well So yeah, I have watched quite a lot, profiting out of some free time.
Ha, the new season of Eureka 7 is coming out in two weeks I think, waiting to see it too!
I am watching Angel Beats! now (3rd eppie) and just started Dennou Coil which looks quite amazing so far. My waiting list is sooooo long, so many series, so little time
How did you like Angel Beats? -
Force_of_Legend — 13 years ago(April 17, 2012 07:04 PM)
Nice to see you too

Awesome! I am glad you have had the opportunity to see so many! Mushi-Shi was good. A slightly flawed masterpiece in that there is no conclusionI loved every single episode though! "All killer with no filler" as it were ;). Night Raid was good. The cat episode was hysterical! I didn't like the OVA ending on a downer noteThe series ending was a little better. Like you said a lot of potential wasted with that one. I loved the music!
I love horror anime! So what was the series name? I figured Last Exile second series wouldn't be as good. It is hard to top the first series
So what is this new season of Eureka 7? Is it a continuation after the original series? Or a new reboot?
What do you think of Angel Beats? I thought it was great. It could have used another season I think, but great! The episode Stairway to Heaven was awesome! I would give Angel Beats a 8/10. Maybe a 8.5?
I am currently watching The Bioboosted Armor: Guyver. Awesome show! I saw the original series, but this new one tells more story with updated animation. After that I think I want to watch Runi Kenshin (Spelling?) Bastard is also on my list since I have it, but never finished it. I also am gearing up for XxX Hollic, Casshern Sins.
Well I hope all is well with you

I am fine, just busy
I have no clue as to what the new Eureka 7 is supposed to be. For no it looks like a sequel, but it does not seem to be happening in the same world as the series, more like a parallel world or something. I think the main character can be Eurekas child, but to be fair, that can be totally wrong, so I guess we will have to wait and see
The horror anime was called Another. Quite good mystery as well, some gory deaths happen here and there, but I must say, all in all I really enjoyed it.
I started the second season of Spice and Woolf now, I also got my VD rentals for this month: Xam'd: Lost Memories. Never heard of it except for some reviews, but ratings are quite high. And once I finish, I don't know, too much choice!
I only saw one episode of XxX Holic, it looked really good!
I gave Angel Beats high rating too, at first I thought I would not like it, but it turned out to be a great mixture of funny/sad. With Night Raid, I thought they did not explore the characters well, and it felt a bit flat in the end. But the animation was very nice, an yes, the cat episode was hilarious!

Force_of_Legend — 13 years ago(April 22, 2012 11:36 AM)
It would be nice if the new Eureka 7 was a sequel, but the first series did have closure to the story.
So the name of the anime is Another? I will have to check it outSpeaking of horror animes! Did you ever finish Shiki? I was thinking of checking that out soon.I want to watch Ghost Hunt next. I hear that is great.
I have wanted to watch Spice and Wolf for quite some time now. How do you like it?
I have wanted to see XxX Holic since I saw Tsubasa. Since it is CLAMP, and the characters cross over.
Angel Beats is awesome! The Stairway to Heaven episode was extremely funny! Which was nice after the episode before was pretty sad. So I am glad it ended on a funny note. I wasn't happy with the last couple of OVA's they produced for Night Raid. Oh well watch, and move on I guess
I finished Bio Boosted Armor: Guyver last night/this morning (2am.). It was good, but didn't have a conclusion. The last episode ended on a positive note. It could have at least had another 4 episodes. Actually it coukd have used another 26. Since the manga goes way past that point.
Now I am about to start Black Blood Brothers.

Wel, in first Eureka, we on't know what happened to Renton and Eureka later on, what happened with kids, what happened to Holland and company. Not that we need to know, but it would be quite cool to see them in the new series. I just watched the second episode and all we have is the main character possible being Eureka's child, but nothing more. It is such good fun though. I do not think it will be better than the first series, but so far looks good. A lot better than Last Exile 2 That was disappointing.
Oh yeah Shiki was amazing. I loved it. If you ever watch it, do not get discouraged during the first episodes. It gets a lot, lot, lot better later on. The ending is a bit shocking, but I enjoyed the thing as a whole, a bit different. Spice and Wolf one was something I enjoyed as well.
I started watching Xam'd, Lost Memories, and it is quite cool too. It is made by the same studio as Eureka 7. I think I will try Kaze no Yojimbo next, I remember you recommending this earlier on.
What is Black Blood Brothers about? -
Force_of_Legend — 13 years ago(May 13, 2012 04:51 PM)
I definitely don't see the point in making a Last Exile 2. Or rather. Why they did make it? The first series had closure, and was fantastic!
Shiki sounds like it is right up my ally! I can't wait to buy it on BluRay! Well a shocking ending is a good thing. Sometimes.Catching you off guard has it's perks. Hopefully Shiki's "shocking" ending is a good one, and not a "to be continued NOT!" kind of ending.
What is Xam'd about? I see it on amazon, but I haven't seen any trailers for it yet. Have you started to watch Kaze no Yojimbo yet?
Black Blood Brothers was pretty decent. The series is never fully realized though. It is only 12 episodes, and has one of those "To be continued never again!" endings. It has interesting background stories, but they are never fully explained. So that really hurts the series since it had potential to be a super cool vampire story.
Right now I am watching Ghost Hunt. I believe I am on episode 7. I am in the middle of the doll house arc. Have you seen it? It is pretty good. I am not sure what I am going to watch next when I finish this series though
On a off anime note. Have you seen The Avengers yet? I have already seen it twice! Loved it! I wish they had already filmed the sequel. I don't think I can wait 3 years for the next one!

Yeah, with Last Exile they just wanted to make a bit of money I guess They have like a few characters from the first series that appear for a few minutes and that's it. It was really disappointing. The new Eureka 7 series is a lot better, but also not as good as the original. Made me want to come back to the first Eureka The first seasons are always the best.
I am still waiting for Kaze no Yojimbo, I woud like to get started soon because it looks like a pretyt good show and I remember you said good things about it too. In the meantime I am getting on with XAM'D. It is about a lad who as a result of an accident becomes a different form of life. He can transform into some sort of creature with super powers but has to be careful for it not to consume him. Sounds a bit weird, but it is a good adventure series. Not amazing, but all right.
I also started watching Space Brothers. It has a similar feeling to Planetes, nice show with adult characters and a some great comedy. I finished Spice and Wolf II an it was pretty good too.
I have heard many great things about Ghost Hunt, do tell whether it stays that way because I really want to check it out!
Not have seen Avengers, what is it about? -
Force_of_Legend — 13 years ago(November 05, 2012 03:54 PM)
You are right! It was hard to read each other's answers! Besides we totally hijacked that person's thread! So with that being said I thought it would be best to revisit our old stomping grounds!I liked both seasons to Code Geass! Although season two started with a big WTF is going on here episode?! The ending was good. I too liked Schniezel (however you spell it). Until the last season. I thought he would remain a "decent character". However like you said..he became a real bastard (Not a reference to Dark Schnider of the anime Bastard!)
Planetes was good. I liked the main character in the beginning. He was funny, but Oy are right. The series became way better toward the end! Even made me cry a little!
Speaking of Trigun/Bebop similaritiesGunXsword is awesome so far! I'm not a fan on mech series. I do love it when they give each mech their own personality, and story. The main character Vahn reminds me of Spike Spegal. Even looks like himI am on Episode 9. After that I am going to watch XxX Holic. I was a big fan of Tusbasa which Holic's story intersects with it. I just had to pick it up! Next I would like to get Deadman's Wonderland! My friend tells me that is a must watch!

Haha, we already hijacked another person's thread in the past once I think

Oh I have news, I watched Kaze no Yojimbo, I think you were the one who recommended it to me? I really enjoyed it, although for the first few episodes I was not sure what was the focus here; there were so many mysteries! But in the end it all came together really nicely. I was disappointed to find out that [spoiler] George's brother was killed [\spoiler] in the end, but at least he can have a fresh start in life.
SO what is GunXsword about? I have heard of Deadman's Wonderland, tell me what you think of it. I am watching Sayounara Zetsubou Sensei now, I needed something light hearted now after a series of really serious shows
-
Force_of_Legend — 13 years ago(November 06, 2012 05:06 PM)
Haha! You are right! We did hijack someone else's thread before. Oh well! They will get over it

Yes! I spoke with you about Kaze No Yojimbo! I am so glad that you liked it! It was a pleasant surprise for me! I hated to see
Racoon die! He was a big lovable bafoon!
. It really did tie everything nicely together at the end. I kind of wish
George would have stayed with her at the end thoughJust like a classic western where the line gunman rides off into the sunset!
.
Deadman's Womderland came highly recommend by many people on different sites, and a couple of good friends who have great taste. I am not really sure what it is about. GunXsword is about a man named Vahn who is searching for a mysterious man with a claw for a right hand. This man killed his fianc on his wedding day. Vahn has a sword he wears on his hip that looks like a gun when holstered. With his sword he can summon a might "armor" (mech) from the heavens (orbiting satellite). It has a strong western theme which is similar to Trigun, and Bebop. Pretty exciting, and fun so far!
How is this new series that you are watching? I know what you mean about habit a light hearted story for a changeGunXsword is funny, sad, and action packed at the same time! Vahn is pretty funny! And has a fetish for every type of condiment a cafe can provide!

We will be known as the thread hijackers on this board

I also thought the ending of Kaze no Yojimbo could be different, but the girl was quite young, was she not?
I have heard Deadman Wonderland is quite brutal and can be graphic when it comes to violence. Tel me what you think of it, if you like it chances are I will too.
Sayounara Zetsubou Sensei is OKI guess, quite early on so I am not decided whether I like it or not, but it has some funny moments. I guess I do prefer more serious shows, but I needed a break from them for at least a few days. I am thinking what Id like to watch next. I recently saw Claymore, have you seen it? I was so on the fence about it, I really wanted to love it but it was so depressing and there was quite a lot of gore as well. Have you seen it?
GunXsword sounds really good, I am looking forward to read your review of it when you finish. -
Force_of_Legend — 13 years ago(November 11, 2012 12:17 PM)
Yes! We will be famous throughout IMDB! I love it! I didn't think she was that young? But it has been about 4 years since I have seen Kaze No Yojimbo! I'll need to rewatch it again!
I didn't know Deadman Wonderland was graphic? The only thing I have heard about it was that I needed to watch it! Violence doesn't really bother me so much as long as it is handled well. If the show is violent just to be violent without purpose then I don't like it.
So you are not really into Sayounara Zetsubou Sensei? What is it about? I do like light hearted shows. I like a good mixture. I love thought provoking stories like Mushi Shi. Then I also like something like Love Hina! It's good to have variety!
I saw Claymore about 2 years ago. I enjoyed it up until episode 13 or so. The best episodes were the ones that had Teresa in them. The last 3 episodes annoyed me. It turned all Dragon Ball on us! At first it reminded me of Berserk. Then it changed gears for the worse.
GunXsword is awesome! It finally showed the real Villian "The Claw" or the man with a claw for a hand. He is responsible for the main character's search for Vengence. It is really awesome! Hey! Any show that reminds us of Bebop, and Trigun has to be great! Some of that awesomeness had to rub off!
