Why is the protagonist always a woman?

It's kind of hard to trick a person into making dumb wishes if everything in their life seems to be going good and may not want anything. Remember the mob boss in part 2? The Wishmaster almost didn't get his soul cause he had money and power and didn't want fame.

I just don't get why the person who awakens the Djinn always happens to be a woman.
So the the Djinn (who is male) can take the form of a human man to seduce and manipulate her. (I suppose the Djinn may or may not be able to transform into a woman or they could do a gay movie, but I wouldnt hold my breath on either.) -

I've honestly never noticed it till I read your post, but doesn't really bother me cause females have always had prominent roles in horror movies. Mostly objectified roles but still prominent.

Final girl tradition. It's easier to root for a girl because they're usually more vulnerable and struggle to overcome the film's great evil.
Plus the Djinn taking form of a man to manipulate and seduce makes sense.

Our thread, this reply will sound sexist. Because men know what they want. Women would over think (in this case a good thing) three wishes. Men would immediately list off money, power, and the woman he's always wanted if not all women.

Not only was the protagonist always a woman , but there always happened to be a man with her who ends up with the stone after she has become the wakener, who stays with/near the stone to get killed and replaced.
