Poll: What theory do you subscribe to (spoilers, obviously)

Please PLEASE keep this thread tidy. Only respond with 1,2, or 3 or the keywords 'possession', 'parallel', or 'figment'. I really just want to take a poll and find out who thinks what.
If you really want to have a discussion, please post it elsewhere, and if you really must share it here, please post a link to it, but please only post a one-word/number answer in this thread.
I, personally, have always believed that its just a matter of parallel stories, but I know that many other people subscribe to one of the other two main theories. So- Parallel stories. There is nothing that really connects the story of Gordon and Mary. We see the story of Mary as a way of explaining Gordon's own psychosis, nothing more.
- Possession. Gordon is possessed by the spirit of Simon who still lives in the asylum
- Figment of Gordon's imagination. This theory has the least proponents, but enough to consider it viable. Every other character is just a part of Gordon' mind. By killing off each character onscreen, he is actually killing that particular personality off)

The first option is the most sensible.
I like the idea behind the possession theory but just don't buy it (I'd had a post in a previous thread here explaining why I appreciate the finished result over the scrapped possession angle years ago but looking through my history it seems IMDb must have purged it at some point).

1, it's the most fitting choice, quite honestly it's the most disturbing and adds a lot more depth to the story. 2 would just be the easier explanation since (IMHO) there's not much supporting the possession theory besides the end dialog, possession is always a cop-out for when they don't have an ending and is thrown in there to fill the missing gap.
