The writing sucked, the acting sucked

Got to disagree with you. This was a beautifully written film that steers clear of the genre "gross out teen comedy flick." Personally I thought all the main characters were well played and indeed likeable. Even Kelly's character had heart.

Yeah, this movie is pretty bad. Caught it on Comedy Central for some reason. I guess they are experimenting outside the comedy genre, because didn't see anything remotely funny about this waste of celluloid. Rating = "2"

I agree. I wanted to see this in theatres but was too young so when it was on dvd i bought it. watched and was like this is one of the biggest waste of my money ever. The only good thing was the plot it was cheesy but kinda good. it couldve used waaayyy better execution with acting and writing. it seemed like a highschool film and i know how bad those can bee.

The writing is not exactly going to make Christopher Nolan or Fraancis Ford Coppola quiver and shake, but it isnt meant to, the film is a romantic comedy, the fact that they steered clear of the usual, boy meets girl and they break up and then there is some massive emotiona outpouring and everything is perfect again. Also, In what way was the acting horrific, Emile Hirsch did very well and Elisha Cuthbert was not far worse.
I just think that everyone has to stop comparing films to other films in a completely different category. Name a good romantic comedy? and tell me why it is so much better than this film. -

Wow the tards really came out on this one. Oh,and people find out they're living next door to current and former pornstars all the time. If you don't think so, you don't read what pornstars write in their blogs and else where. It was a great movie b/t/w.

I picked up a copy of this too thinking it was going to be very good. It's not terrible, but it wasn't great either. There are some funny moments. The acting was not the best either. Elisha was average at best. She has done better acting in other movies and even in '24'. Anyways, I was a bit disappointed. Movies like Super Bad & American Pie were better then this.

To the OP.Yeah the writing and acting were just awful. Must be why it got a 6.8 rating on here after thousands of votes. How about you state your comment alittle better. As in you didn't like the film.

I loved this movie, but I do agree with several parts of your opinions. Emile plays the everyday clueless "nerd" and generates unneeded stereotypes. It's almost the stereotype that gets him in trouble ("banging a porn star in a cheap motel room" has its consequences obviously).
However, the movie got a 6.8 simply because of opinion. It happens. When on IMDB, I don't just put "THIS FILM SUCKS! WHY A 6.8!" without expecting any negative reaction. I always try to put facts or generate reliable statements in order to make a point.

Agreed, this silly rom-com wasn't good at all, and Elisha is a very mediocre actress. The only remarkable thing about this movie was Timothy Olyphant.
I laughed at a review entitled "Definitely Not Another Teen Movie". Those who like this flick are probably horny male teenagers who kept thinking "wow, I'm so jealous of that guy, this film is awesome".
Boycott movies that involve real animal violence! (and their directors too) -

Clearly you have no taste in films. This movie is a fantastic teen comedy in that it has excellent acting, great story, and very subtle smart jokes in it. Plus it's very honest. All of high school and still to this day those amazing nights with girls that change your life are what make life worth living. It's how your parents met, it's how people learn to show true love.. They go through these weird phases in their teens that's what this film represents. It shows what being a teen is all about in a honest, funny and solid movie.
