Make no mistake. This movie was not filmed in Long Beach and there is absolutely nothing in this film that even comes close to depicting Long Beach. This movie was filmed in Asbury Park, NJ.

At the end of the credits it states the movie was not filmed in Long Beach

It's almost not even Asbury Park anymore some of the dilapidated buildings on the AP boardwalk which appear in this film have since been torn down. A couple have been rehabilitated, but more will be eliminated in the near future.
This is actually an interesting time capsule of Asbury Park before all the demolition, if nothing else.

I know! Long Beach, NY is NOTHING like it's portrayed in this film.
