There are rumours NBC is making a pilot. Which American actresses would you like to see play Kath and Kim?

i don't think this should be done, i mean come on americans don't exactly have a good track recorde when it comes to remaking things, anyway the whole accent and words they use is a huge part of the show. The americans are just jelouse we created a great show

I live in America and I can safely say that if some America television company decided to do a pilot of Kath & Kim with two America actresses, I would not even think about watching it. I have been to Australia a couple of times in the past ten years and I love everything about. I think one of the reasons why Kath and Kim works is because of some of the over the top accents they have on the show, but that's just my opinion. It's kind of like when the US started doing the office. It's funny but I love the UK version thousands better. Just moy two seents.

I'm American. There are, with few exceptions, many decent remakes. I was horrified when I heard the Office was being remade, and though I dont think its as good as the British version, it holds its own, mostly due to the fact that they take the story in a completely different direction. Steptoe and Son is genius! I love it, but I actually think Sanford and Son is better! Those are the only two instances I cam come up with in which the remake doesnt suck. I wont even start on movies No, Kath and Kim should be shown as it is. It translates well enough Kath and Kim are tacky and America has its own rednecks

No. Part of the hilarity is their accents and odd ways/saying of things. I think that adds to the funniness. Besides, hollywood has a tendency to over use certain actors/actrsses and usually cast awful. There is only one
Kath and Kim. -

If it was a US version it would probably be re worked with an American theme, no? I wouldn't imagine them having it still based in Australia. Either way, it would not be nearly as good!

Sounds like you're all very bitter down under. Would love to visit Australia sometime. I've heard it's beautiful. Too bad you people have such a chip on your shoulder about Americans. I'm sure Hollywood would run itself just fine with or without that Aussie imagination that you all refer to with such pride.
P.S. You can keep Mel Gibson -

speaking as an american, i think personally we would ruin the show i love kath and kim the aussie version. we took the office and made it ours i still love the british version better. and now if we take this we'll kill it too. i think stick to the original is best.

No! No! No!
Kath & Kim are Australian through & through! It just could not translate as American. Some things can be remade, but some things can not! Examples of American remakes gone horribly wrong- The Office & Men Behaving Badly. Thank God the American Ab Fab never got made! Certain types of humour just can't be taken out of their cultural reference without destroying them, and this is one of them! I know of many Americans who enjoy it just as it is. -

I would think that they would do an American version with American actresses about American life. You'd probably have the same relationships represented, mom and daughter w/ the husband, the friend, etc. But i love watching the original. I have afeeling this wont work out as well as the network executives think. "The Office" works because every country has workplace environments like that. But i just dont know about this one
