People dont have a chip on there shoulder about americans it is just the americans taking an original idea, turning it american, claiming it as its own with dodgy laughing machines and lacking in everything especially quality. It kills the whole idea of the original and is a little bit arrogant that the americans edit shows when we all speak the same language.
If i sound a bit anti american, my mum is one and she feels the same way about the re makes of shows.!

come on that will suck you do not even need to say who will be the best actor for it because it will obviously be a crap show.

I think when they translate the base story (middle class life) they will probably come up with something like Married With Children. Except without the fat jokes, sexist jokes, or anything to make it funny in the ultra PC environment Hollywood is going through now. So I think I already have seen a US version.

                  Sarah, I'm shocked at you!
How can you possibly think that this is a good show??!
I hate the way it portrays Australians, like where all dumb and talk like they do.
The only good thing about the show is the shopping centerwhich is where I use to live, and it's one of the most kick arse shopping centers in Melbourne!
I'll be happy when I see or hear that it has been cancelled and then I can do my little happy dances!!!
(BTWwe have probs on the Charmed board again!!)

I reckon an American version wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing, it'd be interesting to see how it turns out. I heard that one of the reasons American TV companies remake shows from overseas is because over there they have around 24-28 episodes in each season, but in England / Australia etc you get around 6-8 episodes, although now I've forgotten what the point was about that. Anyway it was something about being able to show more episodes.

The american version of Kath and Kim could be set in the vast new york suburbs of long island. There are so many Kath and Kim types on long island. Tacky suburbanites who don't know just how bourgeois and tacky they are. Just like the characters on Kath and Kim. The american versions would live in a very suburban house, drive an SUV, go shopping at the MALL , wear tacky clothing etc. A southern version of these characters would be funny too. The sopranos were tacky and bourgeois also.

None whatsoever. Ideally no US version at all actually.
