Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — The Day the World Ended

"The Day the World Ended" is the title of a 1955 SciFi B-movie which the boy Ben had been watching at some critical time in his life. That movie had a weird looking mutant creature in it that was some kind of a model for the creature in this movie.
I think the idea is Ben takes things from that movie and projects them into reality.
The title was even questionable in that 1955 movie.

    The story is king.

Somewhere I read that this was a remake of the film from the 50's, however the 50's version evidently was a post-apocalyptic show, and much different.
Evidently, that was the movie the boy was watching. The monster was similar.
I had no idea when we watched this from netflix that it was an HBO made for TV movie, but I think it was quite fun.

The title for this one was very misleading. This movie would have benefitted from another more appropriate title.
You've seen Guy Standeven in something because the man was in everything.
