Sly is a guy who can make a decent movie and not bung it up as bad as steven segal (for example) and the last theatrical release movie he is in was Spy Kids 3-D, and to be quite honestthat movie wasn't to bad..and stallone was awesome in italso the movie was a box office hit. So 20 mill he makes comes because he has talent. If segal got 20 mill i would find the guy who agreed to it and kick his ass..but i think stallone will return to the big screen soon enough and give us a reason as to why he is in the 20 mill actor range.

I'm sorry, actors get that salaries not because of the talent. It's all in terms of box-office-successes. Take Johnny Depp, Val Kilmer or Kevin Bacon. The most talented actors of their generation, but they never got paid that much. Stallone has some 100 million + films in his credit, so he got 20 million per film. But I honestly think this times are over now. He needs a hit, his box-office-draw-status is destroyed.

It's true, and i really worry about the possible failure of the new rocky and rambo movies, cause i am pulling for him. I think it would be a good idea for him to start taking percentages of gross, to make sure that he doesn't drive the budget up too much, plus he could end up like bruce willis and get a 100 million dollar paycheque, remember nicholson in batman (he got 60 mil with percentage. But yeah one guy said that 20 mil isn't much, but he's so wrong. The highest salars every paid was 30 mil to arnold for t3, and not that many have reached, or surpassed twenty mil.
        peace out_

Johnny Depp was the highest paid actor last year. There are plenty of better actors than Val Kilmer or Kevin Bacon. Sean Penn is a better example of a great actor from that generation that never got paid that much.

Hey, I'm a guy from the future,,, yeah, 2008, and since most of the posts here are 3 years old at least i can laugh at you people mocking stallone. "I think that is why he so desperately wants to make Rocky VI and Rambo IV". And, to whoever said that, look how that turned out, two great blockbusters movies and good ways to close both series, and he again won a lot of money and respect. Yeah, maybe he shouldn't have been paid 20,000,000 for this movie, but the guy is talented,,, any sort of compensation for his work is money well spent.

You're talking about me and what I wrote was true. Yes, Rocky Balboa and Rambo were successful but that does not change the reality that those were the only movies that he could get financing for at the time because of his string of box-office flops. He stated this himself on Inside the Actors Studio. I never said they wouldn't be successful nor did I "mock" him. I just choose to state the truth and live in the real world.

Yeah, I know all about his "string of box-office flops", i don't deny it, he has done some really beep movies, but what i don't understand is why are you guys so surprise with his payment. It's not something new that actors are overpaid, people get pissed off all the time abou that, but that's how hollywood works, many times they expect to make a hit movie betting on the stars on it. That's the case of this one. They thought stallone was enough to make this movie work, well, he couldn't hide a lazy script and bad directing. He got paid, everyone went home. Happy Ending? well, when you talking about hollywood, you only get one of those on movies.

I wasn't surprised nor pissed about his payment. So maybe you should have replied to someone else. I did feel that he didn't deserve it due to his track record but I stated that the studios are still willing to pay him that much based on his name and that's their business.

The reason stallone gets paid so much, because Sly has that persona, people always wait for a Sly movie, good or bad. People who love him and also those who hate him wait eagerly for his movies. Its only that, he has a bad choices of movies in last 8 to 10 years.
                      Avenging angelo was really bad.

Stallone really has not had a hit since Rocky IV and Rambo II back in 1985!!! Everything else he has done has only done OK(Rambo III, Cliffhanger and Demolition Man) or been hug flops(Daylight, Judge Dredd and Stop or my mom) the fact people are still willing to pay him that shows how poor in logic Hollywood has become.

What if Stallone asks $20 million per picture because he never knows what movie scripts will come his way?
What if he does a movie for that price whether or not he likes the script?
What if he asks $20 million because he does not like the movie?
What if he does like the movie script? Might he accept the role for less?
What if most of his offers are to portray a stereotype that he does not like? Would that be a reason to ask for a prodigious sum?
If one knew that Avenging Angelo was an allegory, would that help to understand why it was made?
Ever try to write a letter to a newspaper where you are restricted by rules: word count, etc.?
Often it is difficult to do a good job of writing a script when restrictions prevent the creative process.

Boy did you hit the proverbial 'nail on the head' with that last couple of sentences. I write, script's, short stories, etc. But haven't 'hit' it as yet. I also write for the local newspaper, and my chief editor 'butcher's' my stories with his editing,..yet sometimes he see's the 'bigger' picture in the story than I do. And turn's it into a great verbal forum. The distributers and producers & studio's are all to blame for that creative control over artist's like me,..I love to write and I love movies and have published Poetry, but my passion is to direct one of my own 'Indie' movies one of these days. Look at how producer's, (on a BIG movie)can totally 'control' the 'final cut' which is why I've grown fonder of the prospect of doing an Indie movie about the pysche of human being's and My philosophy about (Darwin's) Theory of Evolution et. al.
But yes, whereas once a hundred years ago rock-n-roll was invented, (yes rock n roll goes way back probably even to ancient civilization .)Tribes from Africa etc. beating on wooden drums, Native American's beating skin-head drum's. A great book about all this (as to drumming) is by Mickey Hart one of the drummer's from the Grateful Dead.Rock N' Roll was called Satan's music, and today's 'music' rap/hip-hop,(that is NOT music)
pertains to more a Satanic device than anything rock-n'-roll. But that is how (unfortunately) music (gack!) has progressed, ooop's,FALLEN FROM GRACE. There are very few real 'Guitar Band's' anymore,it's all so depressing, but I'm a wanker so what do I know? Rock On! p.s. I gotta head full' 'snot' right now, so if this post seems a bit off (bad editing on my part) I apologize.

Maybe God is punishing you for apostrophe abuse.
The apostrophe has three uses: 1) to form possessives of nouns, 2) to show the
omission of letters, and 3) to indicate plurals of letters.
Apply these simple rules and you may find that your editor needn't cut out so much of your writing.

Isn't it about a contract for 3 movies, at 20,000,000$ each?
Anyway, when Rocky VI (sure) and Rambo IV (not sure) will become very strong box-office hits, Stallone will then be doing 25,000,000$ movies.

Stallone can no longer deliver the box-office draw to validate a $20m paycheck. Nothing he has been in since Rocky IV can be considered a blockbuster. Only a handful of modest hits in 28 or so films since then. A look at his career from the 80's shows the distinct pattern of a man without an audience (or a very good agent): 2 or 3 total flops, return to a franchise, 2-3 more flops, return to a franchise. However, in the 90's, his staple franchises (Rocky, Rambo) were ignored by the studios (and believe me, he's been trying for 10 years to get Rambo IV made), leaving him floundering. His grousing about wanting to be taken seriously as an actor got him a role in Copland, but did nothing to re-establish box-office clout.
Even worse, his movies now lose money. Ever since Get Carter tanked, Sly has had a truly dismal record. Avenging Angelo wasn't even released in US theatres. He was barely in the promos for Spy Kids 3, which shows how carefully studios will market a film in which he appears.
And now, after years of poor box-office, Sly is once again returning to his franchises. But how will they perform? While Rocky Balboa will be released in December, Rambo IV is barely one step above a vaporfilm. A script exists, and there is a release date, but no sort of offical press exists. I would be surprised if Rambo IV gets before the camereas prior to a box-office judgement on Rocky Balboa.
This is not an attempt to illustrate my glee at Sly's box-office misfortunes. I'm just stating some facts.
