One of the worst movies….

I was kind of let down by this movie. I was expecting a serious action adventure with a lot of explosions and innovative whacking from Stallones character. But all I got was a romantic comedy with a mobster twist. The description made it seem like Stallones character would be out for revenge on the men who killed his father figure, Angelo in a vicious way while trying to protect Stowes character and not make the same mistake, he made when he failed to protect Angelo in the beginning of the film. Something like man on fire was more of what I was expecting from this film but obviously didnt get.
I personally only like to see Stallone in action films and ironically action films are what two of his biggest hits Rocky and Rambo were. Maybe an action film with a good storyline and some side stuff would be better for Stallone rather than trying to play everyday characters in romantic comedys and family films.

The biggest disappointment though would be when Stallone's character killed the guy who killed Angelo. All he did was shoot him with a concealed gun and that was that. Realistically if someone kills someone who means so much to you, youre not going to let them off so easy. This scene could have been more drawn out rather than shooting the guy in the head right away and calling it a day.

This is definitely one of the worst movies ever.
Not because of Stallone. Stallone's acting is fine.
The script, characters, and atmosphere of this film are all simply horrible.
I could not even bring myself to watch this whole movie. It was so atrociously bad that I could not stomach it.
This movie is an abomination that should be erased from history.
I am
shocked
that this movie has gotten a score of 4 from IMDb voters - it is
nowhere close
to being worth 4 points.
Any score above
zero
is being
ludicrously kind
to this piece of dung. -

Just watched this movie, and was utterly surprised. Being a SLy fan all my life, I expected another action-adventure-drama, but what I got was a romantic comedy! Never before had a seen a character like that from SLy, and thought he did a wonderful job playing it. And the movie as a whole was very good.
As for the other jabronis posting on thisall I can say is that they have problems. The person who said anthony quinn's performance was horribleNOT REALLY THOUGH! He was dying when he shot this movie and died while they were shooting the sicily scenes. Show some respect to one of the greats.
As for the Sly haters, why are you here? I hate certain actors and actresses, yet I don't go to their sites to bash them, I could care less what they're doing, or what movies there in. I simply don't watch their movies.
Sly in my opinion is the greatest actor ever. That's my opinion, and I don't care about yours. -

Stallone is an incredible actor. Anyone who thinks otherwise doesn't have a clue what good acting is.
I think he gets a bad rap because of his slurred speech. Also, well, he HAS been in a few real stinkers. "Over The Top" could be considered a rather bad career move.
This movie IS pretty bad, but not because of the actors. Someone earlier posted that is was not originally supposed to be a comedy, but was changed during production. That really shows, with the actors desperately trying to make a comedy out of marginally-funny lines. The screenplay is pathetic. -

I hated this movie. Like someone else said, I don't fault the actors. Stallone is charming and likeable in the picture and so is Madeline Stowe but the story is ridiculous. I bought the DVD when it first came out and the cover of it makes it sound like a dramatic action-thriller. I was intrigued, especially when I also found out it was the final film of Anthony Quinn. When I discovered that this was a screwball romantic comedy I wanted to vomit. The story is lame, the pacing is slow. Quinn is practically the best thing about the movie but he is only in it for about 10 minutes.

Sly is a great talent. He wrote Rocky. Starred in Rocky and keeps himself in shape. At 60 plus he could still out bench most guys half his age.
He is Italian icon. How many Italians (and a virtual unknown in the biz) get a chance to write and star in a movie. I'll go see this flick just cause he and the late great A. Quinn is in it.
Go Rocko!!!! Nuff said!!! -

Every moron like you always has to say "this is one of the worst movies.. blah blah blah!" get a job you piece of sh@t! What you need to do is admire that someone can make money from these movies unlike you who is sitting on your @$$ making fun of it. If you can do any better, go make a movie yourself and then let me judge your work of artistic garbage. Stallone is one of the best actors of all time. Make fun of the way he talks all you want, he still has more money than any of us combined. Sly is the man. Go watch Rambo and then come back and talk smack about him. LOSER
