Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Samurai Jack

    ethannorthup — 9 years ago(February 07, 2017 11:25 PM)

Cartoon Network/Boomerang keeps rebooting their classic shows in an attempt to get more people to tune in. The new bugs Bunny Wabbit show is terrible, the new Scooby Doo is pointless, the new Powerpuff girls is an abomination of modern television. I'm really hopeful for this next season of Samurai Jack, because it's an actual continuation of the same story instead of completely changing everything and starting over.
I just hope that CN will leave Dexter's lab and Johnny bravo alone. That's all I ask

Also, I forgot to throw Teen Titans Go in there. The Powerpuff girls reboot is still much, MUCH worse than that, though

really? what they do to the powerpuff girls(I never watch the new one or heard anything about it) but teen titans go is a disappointment for the fans of the original show but it seems like it's fun for kids.

Well the first mistake they made was rebooting it without the permission of the original creator, and hiring new voice actors after the original actors said they didn't want it to happen. But the show would have been fine if they didn't make up idiotic new villains and would have stuck with the original cast of characters. Mojo Jojo is in it, but that's really the only villain from the original cast that shows up. Also the animation is very awkward. Everything about it just seems off. The characters from the original show look the same as they always have, but all of the new characters that they introduced look like Steven universe characters. It's hard to get immersed into the show when the main characters don't even look like they fit in with the rest of the world.
They took out miss bellum also, when she was one of the most pivotal characters of the original. She was constantly having to save the mayor, and you could tell that she was the real brains of the operation. Without her, the show is all illogical nonsense with no brains.
And in every episode, they make completely blatant hints and nods to the original show that the younger generation won't get. I would be fine if they threw in a fan-servicey Easter egg here and there, but they are trying way too hard to set up a sub-plot for the future. In about 3 or 4 different episodes, "Him" shows up randomly in an end-credits scene (kind of like what marvel has done for years), says something creepy and ominous, and then leaves. Without any explanation at all.
This show is so horrendous that I could write a short novel explaining all it's problems. Teen Titans Go is pretty bad, but at least I can respect it as a show for little kids. I have always kind of seen it as a parody of the original show, which I'm fine with. The show doesn't take itself so seriously that it's unwatchable.

damn maybe I'll try watching it down the line when it's done a few seasons.
I agree with you on teen titans go, it's okay since it just dumbed down for a much younger fan base but I was at first disappointed since they used the same actors and I wanted the Original to continue soo bad but now we got young justice and it's coming back!
