Ludicrous Nonsense

Actually, this movie isn't two and a half hours long, it's only one and a half. I, too, thought the transformation went rather fast. I'd say that they should have made it longer to draw out the changes and make it more realistic, but then there would be more of it to sit throughI dunnomaybe it would have made it better.
Observe the dark realm, but be not of it.

I've liked everything Goldie has done since 'Rowan and Martin's Laugh-in'.
If you want to see the real Goldie check her out in Ruby Wax's show.

Most likely they threw all that in to reinforce the film's message: "it's what you are inside that counts." Susan is not known for her comedy skills and Goldie lacks at serious roles, so together they bombed.

This movie wasn't the worst I've ever seen. That being said I'd like to add that it would be alright by me if Susan Sarandon never wore those pants in front of the camera ever again. The horror!
At least now that I'm in my 30's, I can hold my drink. -

I do believe that they could have came up with a better script when it came to the part where the daughter recites her speech at her graduation as class president. It was really horrible. She kept repeating herself - I believe the repetitious words were "doing it true". Is that proper grammar? What was the director/producer/whoever created the transcript thinking?

I watched this film not long ago and didn't expect it to be that good, due to some of these messages. I really did enjoy it though, not just because of Susan Sarandon but because in bits i found it hilarious. Susan and Goldie make a really good team. I agree though about the scene with the daughters speech, it was a bit cheesy but i loved the film all the same.

That's when I stopped watching. Up until then it was slightly enjoyable, almost seemed like an R-rated movie at points. But I knew it was almost over when the kid gave the graduation speech and I was NOT going to sit through that.
I'm not a woman much less Deanna Durbin, but the old-time glam-shot appeals to me. -

I agree that she would not have transformed so quickly in real life, but then she was living a lie wasn't she? Keeping up appearances etc.
My only criticism is that 2 hours was not long enough to tell the story - especially of Susan's transformation.
It would have worked better slowly say, in a series, but it was a film, so the story was condensed.

Well, I was diappointed with this movie initially, because I hoped it would have a lot to do with music instead of just the revival of a friendship. I agree completely with each of your reasons. Just as well, in the end bit, they do NOT look like Zeppelin groupies.
