Dumbest ending ever or am I the only one who doesn't get it

Hours of gameplay and earning money with lucky hit.
Just for not killing the boss or even getting the girl?
Seems like the game ends in the middle of the story.
I was really disappointed.
Am I the only one who thinks so?

It's not a trilogy "missed by a mile." The story is supposed to be 16 chapters. Shenmue 1 was 1 chapter. Shenmue 2 was chapters 2,3,& 4. We don't know how many games there are to be total. It is known the that the initial story is completeAM2 just needs to put it into game form.

it should have ended after u beat up the fat guy, instead of dragging us into the woods ,that was more like an intro to the shenmue three than a good ending to shenmue 2.

thats because the game series isnt even finished yet and probably wont be, which is one of the greatest injustices known to man

yes. The ending is very easy to get. The whole last setting with that girl was a prologue to a future game (shenmue online). It explains everything. Listen. That poem is read at the end of both games explaining the future. Parts of it are understandable after each game.
Note:
The game actually ended with the boss battle atop that large apartment complex. Sorry for no names but i played it like 3 years ago.

I was pissed when all you did was run through the forest for an hour and that was it. Sega needs to make a Shenmue 3 to finish the story.

I remember when ShenMue was meant to be 13 chapters. ShenMue 1 was the intro and chapter 1, chapter 2 on the cruise ship where Ryo has to fight Chai again is done as a comic book I believe, ShenMue 2 was meant to be chapters 3-6. Personally I would think there should be two more games rather than squash 7 chapters into one game. Then again it doesn't look as though we will get one game
