Why is this? Many episodes are rated 7s and 6s, yet the overall series is at an 8.7.

The score's on IMDB a lot of times don't reflect the true opinions of the series. A lot of trolls go around and purposely rate episodes lower just to mess with the scores overall and because they're sad, lonely people.

Good point. Strangely, I have seen this before with Friday Night Lights. Amazing series and great finale. Earlier seasons weren't rated so great, but were just as good as, if not better than, the later seasons in my opinion.

I usually end up commenting on these threads because i seen it happen. The show used to have a 9.4 out of 10 on here for several years following its conclusion, one of the highest rated shows on IMDB. A user named Youmad got pissed about S4 being "too racist," and proceeded to make tons of sock accounts and had his friends help him downvote the show all the way down to an 8.5 iirc. It's climbed back up a bit since.
Ignore it, the series is excellent (Seasons 5-7 in particular standout) and has one of the best endings to a television show I've seen. Season One is the weakest overall. -

Thanks for the reply. I guess I'm having trouble wrapping my head around how far people will go to manipulate the numbers. Though I have seen it. I do not watch The 100, but after they killed off a fan favorite gay character, every episode afterwards was rated horribly in an effort to prove a point. Sucks for everyone who works so hard on the show that winey crybabies go to such great lengths.

I was just coming here to ask the same question. I'm watching season 2, being blown away episode after episode, I come on here, and I'm like 7s for all these? Most of these episodes should be averaging in the 8s, with a few above 9.
