Why does she need to fall so many times?

Having an actor fall endears them to the audience. This has been done since silent films were being made, (and probably before on stages!) It has already been overused in movies for you to point it out as annoying. I agree and now find it distracting too. I think current directors use it with new young actresses to make them likable, when many in the audience might judge them as stuck up. This way they don't have to pay a good writer to bulk up her character. Apparently in this movie, the director thinks the audience is too thick to get the message the first time, so it was way overused. The fall at the Dress Party should have made us gasp, instead eyes rolled. You're right very annoying.

I haven't actually noticed it with many movies, other than things with Amanda Bynes. Constant falling/tripping isn't that uncommon amongst teens (or children) during growth spurts. Some people are just clumsier than others. As a teen, I would have made Amanda Bynes look very stable on her feet by comparison (however, I have a tendency to walk into doorframes, walls and posts, too).
I'm the best at what I do, but what I do isn't very nice. -

For the catwalk fall, Daphne seemed extremely close to the edge of the stage and she wound up turning as she yelled "Thank you, London!" I thought Daphne fell because her platform slipped too close to the edge and the camera angle to see it was just terrible.

I think it is partly do to how her parents met. Remember? Her mom fell down that hill and into her dad's arms. Like mother like daughter. Oh, and my daughter is a teenager and trips and falls sometimes when her ankle turns or if she's wearing high heels. No biggie.

Having her falling onto Prince Charles' lap, was also to make another major faux pas happen in front of the press. Fleet Street loved her!
