I wasn't that scared whilst watching the movie but the scene that messed me up the most was when Rachel realises that Samara was evil all along. The look of pure hatred on her face haunts me and its way more effective than the ugly waterlogged face she had when she killed Noah.

saw the movie some time ago. Why would she even think samara ISN'T evil? i thought that was pretty clear.

she thought she wasn't evil when she released her from the well. she thought she just needed help like a broken spirit or something. it wasnt until that kid started going "why did you free her?" when rachel realized something was off.

Are you referring to when Rachel was watching the video? That was my favorite part. The mood is sick. The way Samara says " but he doesn't know" then looks up at the camera.

I always thought that the most messed up scene in the movie was Mr. Morgan electrocuting himself to death.

I LOVE that part. When Samara is finally revealed to Noah and, like you said, that look of absolute evil and hatred on her waterlogged face is my second favorite part in the film.
My "first" choice for favorite scene/part is Rachel's sister's line: "I saw her face." Bam! Fast cut to her daughter in the closet, dead and all green with horrific distortions in her "Death by Fright" face.
That scene stayed with me for days after watching this film. I still get absolutely freaked out about it even today. And I pride myself on not being scared at all so easily. Just an awesome scene.
I love this film. So effective.
"I learned that in prison, you like? You white trash piece-a sh!t."

Aidan cluing his mother in to the fact that she inadvertently helped Samara in the worst way was such a great and surprising moment in the film.
You've seen Guy Standeven in something because the man was in everything.
