No one really cares that he didn't like the movie.
It's just HILARIOUS that he thinks saying "I get laid a ton" does anything other than show that he most likely is a virgin.

I agree with you. I didn't find this movie funny either. I do tons of crazy partying myself so I'm not uptight. And I like a variety of movies from the subtle humour to the lol ones but still I didn't find this funny. Maybe it's because I'm a 27 year old woman and not a mid-thirties man like the characters in the movie. I don't know. All I know is this one didn't amuse me.

You feel sorry for me because I don't have the same sense of humour as you do? People just happen to appreciate different things you know.

Yeah, I totally agree - people are missing out if they are not getting this movie.
I actually feel this is one of the last good "modern" comedies to emerge from the Vince Vaughn, Will Ferrell, Owen/Luke Wilson, etc. group, and Todd Phillips last good movie. The hangover was REALLY contrived and the performances were extremely lackluster overall. Old School had some awesome comedy from both Ferrell and Vaughn. Some of the best lines are subtle and can be overlooked if you're not paying attention. "I built Speaker City from the ground up and I can barely read..truth."
Frankly, a lot of the thematic humor is VERY much based on the college experience, something many people may not be that in tuned with.
I would suggest all you that "don't get it" give it another chance. Sometimes with comedies you might not be in the right mood, I find. This film was definitely hilarious.

I can see why people may not find this move hilarious - but I find it very easy to watch!
And I find Vince Vaughn funny even when he's not trying to be? He's like my comic kryptonite, I can't help but laugh whenever he's on screen. And I don't know why, but the scenes where Will Ferrell is trying to give his wedding gift away never EVER fails to amuse me. It's just the awkwardness of it all. Awkward humour thumbs up

If you think this movie is funny, then you'll laugh at anything. There was barely enough funny stuff to fill out the trailer for this film. Save yourself the money renting it (or the time it takes to download it) and just go laugh at a dog turd on your front lawn.

Its all subjective; comedy, much like horror, is in the eye of the beholder. Lots of people thought The Exorcist was scarier than hell, while many younger horror fans of today who spent their formative years hiding under the covers from Freddy Krueger find The Exorcist laughable and outdated. Conversely many people from my generation thought Freddy Krueger (complete with his corny catch phrases and/or references to pop culture etc) cheesy and hackneyed.
But whos to decide whos right?
SayGhandi, Hitler, Einstein, Andy Dick and Frankenstein all went out to the movies and saw some guy running from a building on fire slip on a banana peel
Ghandi might feel compassion for the guy and worry if hes hurt or not. Hitler might find it funny if the guy appeared to be Jewish, but otherwise might not be affected. Einstein might crack up because he seldom got a chance to witness such levity, while Andy Dick might be mildly amused and want to steal the idea for his next film, and Frankenstein might hate it because he feels Fire bad!
As it happens I liked Old School, but I couldnt possibly have hated The Hangover any more than I did; I found it completely inane and didnt even come close to laughing once. It was the same thing with
                            Get Smart
; I was absolutely baffled at how many people loved that film, and I was stunned when talk about a sequel started.
You just have to know that there is no standard for comedy (or horror) or drama for that matterdifferent people are always going to relate to different films in different ways, and if they didnt how boring a place would the world be then?
"Stick with me baby, and you'll be fartin' thru silk!"

I agree with the OP. Watched this movie for the first time last night. People have been talking it up for years to me, but there really wasn't anything I laughed at. Will Ferrell to me tries way too hardand just isn't funny. It was like watching one of his old SNL skits which (with the exception of his George Bush impersonations) were painful to watch. And the other jokes you could see coming a mile away (like Blue's fate, fat guy with rope around his unit, etc.). I loved The Hangover, which everyone said was Todd Phillips' best work since this movie, so I had high hopes. But this was a major disappointment. When you compare it to classics like Animal House well, there really is no comparison.

Whenever I comment on a "classic comedy" that I didn't think was funny, people rip into me saying "LOL you need to get laid" or "you must be boring to hang out with!!!!"
Therefore, let me preface this by saying that I get laid a ton and party pretty hard into my mid-20s.
I just didn't like it. I didn't really laugh at the jokes.
Why is "You're my boy Blue" funny? Everybody seems to love that line. It just doesn't do anything for me. And Will Ferrell streaking? Eh. Again, not funny. These are things that I did in college. To see somebody older doing it is not funny to me.
                                I hated "The Hangover" too.
And its not just that I hate Todd Phillips' movies because I really, really enjoyed "School for Scoundrels."
Craig Kilborn was the funniest actor in this movie, IMO. I can't really think of any other "laugh out loud" moments.
Why people love this movie has always been a mystery to me. This and The Hangover.
If you didn't think this movie was funny, tell us what movies you did think were funny so we know where you're coming from.

I gotta agree with you. I finally sat down and watched this with my wife after my friends and brother kept hounding me that I gotta see it.
Normally, probably 70 - 90% of the time, I'm generally on the side that likes different styles of humor, and love the movies that a lot of people just don't "get". I love comedies from stupid slapstick to witty intelligent humor.
But while I thought it was mildly entertaining, and I understood what the appeal may be, I just didn't find Old School very funny. (I remember my brother being dumbfounded when I broke that news to him, poor guy.) I laughed a couple times, but for the most part my wife and I were bored.

It is an over rated movie, that has a great first 30 minutes hen fizzles out. An Animal House rip-off.
