wtf .comparing TBL to old school?there are plenty of movies out there you can compare old school too for the simple reason that its formulaic(spelled right i think)you should make a list of what movies have the that same tired formula, and then punch your sister square in the jaw.
try asking if TBL is funnier than 'withnail and i' or something.thats a case for a good argument.

It's like comparing Kubrick's "Shining" to "I know what you did last summer", "Scream" or something of that level.
      Silly, pointless and humiliating.
And i must admit i liked "Old school". But it's simple entertainment at best. Clever and sharp masterpieces like "Big Lebowski" are already BIG classics while "Old school" will be forgotten really fast.

I think they are both really funny in their own way. Old school has funny parts and I am a huge fan of all the Frat Packers! My favorite scene is when Frank the Tank takes a dart right in the jugular. You're you're crazy man. Great! But I also love The Big Lebowski. I laugh during the whole movie. I love every line and every scene! The Dude and Walter are beyond great and there are so many funny quotes from that film. Why do you think there is a Lebowski Fest every year? There are devoted fans for that movie! I don't like to compare them because they are both funny. Although I have to say TBL is my favorite movie in my collection and I own both.

I would say Lebowski is definitely a better movie but Old School is funnier.

The Big Lebowski all the way. Old School is still great though.

I don't recall if I laughed even once when I watched Old School. I don't care for that brand of comedy. Now granted, I didn't laugh much the first time I saw Lebowski, but knew that it was worthy of further viewings which resulted in the unveiling of the comedy contained with said picture. So obviously I'm pulling for Lebowski all the way. I viewed this message board to see if people are still loving this movie and it seems they are, which is fine. I just don't get it.

Old School is much funnier, but I think The big Lebowski is better (mostly because of the brilliant Jeff Bridges)

Well considering that Le Grande Lebowski is in fact one of the greatest movies ever committed to film, it aint gonna be beaten by the likes of Old School.

The Big Lebowski wins without breaking a sweat. I'm going to have to go with the previous poster that said if you didn't find it funny then you didn't get it. Dry, thought-provoking humor beats Will "I don't even come close to being funny" Ferrell any day.

Big lebowski was lot better. Old School was mildly amusing at its best, ok movie wouldn't watch it for second time.

There is absolutely NO WAY Old School is comparable. Yes it's funny, yes it's not stupid, yes it's witty, but it's not getting close to surrealistically enigmatic atmosphere of The Big Lebowski. The actors in Old School are not the same level as Jeff Bridges and John Goodman, not even close. Vaughn is probably the only one to have potential, and Ferrel is usually good in films he didn't write, but Wilson is plain average.
Cinematography, writing, humor are all of much higher quality in TBL.
Old School is just one of several good comedies, compare it to Blades Of Glory or Break Up or Dodge Ball but it definitely lacks qualities to become cult movie like TBL.

Old School is funny from the start. Lebowski has long periods of boredom that drive people insane. Old School is continuously funny from start to end, including the end credits 😄

I first saw TBL when it came out theatrically and since I was expecting a serious crime story, I was all WTF? It was only after giving it a second chance and watching it on it's own terms, that I really started to appreciate the humour of the ludicrous plot and bizarre characters. Expectations really set the stage for whether you'll like a movie, and TBL is not gonna be your cup of tea if you go in expecting the typical crude humour comedy like Old School or Bad Santa. The humour is more subtle and arises from the characters and dialogue. And it for sure gets better with repeat views.

Are you joking? Lebowski is a masterpiece to that Old School crap. I laughed at Old School when I watched it but the Coen's are simply higher caliber directors. It's like comparing da Vinci to a pop artist
