Please oh Netflix gods, resurect Firefly!

In any case, as much as I love Firefly, I've accepted its fate. It's been fifteen years almost. I've mourned long enough.
All the actors have moved on with their respective careers. And it was the chemistry of the actors, with the wisdom of Whedon. That truly made that show special. You could never get that lightning, back into a new jar.

I don't think it would really work. Why would they be doing the same thing after 15 years? They'd be a bit old for gallivanting around thieving and scheming as they did? And how would they resolve River's story?
Besides, Jayne is now a captain in the US Navy. -

Well, it doesn't have to be 15 years in the future, even though it's been 15 years since the series, the cast still look relatively young, soi any overt signs of them being a lot older could be explained by the stress of being on the run for an extended period of time. Ideally this would be before the events of serenity (if the ressurected series didn't ignore it which, got getting book and wash back, quite a few fans wouldnt mind if the events of the movie hadn't happened)or if not, after the events of Serenity where their being on the run constantly is the consequences of them sharing the Miranda beacon message.

It comes down to 2 things:
- Would FOX be willing to sell the rights to Netflix for a price Netflix would be willing to invest?
- Would Whedon and the cast be on board to try this one more time?
#1 is highly unlikely - I think they are still getting decent profit from DVD sales and the fact that Firefly is on Netflix.
But if some miracle allows for it, I think #2 could still be an issue If Joss wants it, and there is a chance for Netflix to grant #1, then it's almost 100% that he'd be on board.
Netflix has to take the first step to try and negotiate #1 with Fox Without that, we are on square zero (not even one)
In the meantime, I'm deeply saddened when watching The Expanse and Dark Matter. They are both much-much weaker shows, not even in the same league with Firefly and they got greenlighted, and they have a production value that would pass for a Firefly renewal (maybe DM is a notch below, but whatever, Firefly was never about the effects anyway). A sad state of affairs.
We all want Netflix to do it. Come on!
I was looking back to see if you were looking back at me to see me looking back at you

Agree, it would be short of a miracle but there is still some hope.
Agree also on Dark matter (I don't watch the Expanse). Much much weaker show and renewed for its third year along with the other weak show Killjoys Too bad Firefly wasn't airing today, it would have had more chances to establish itself.
I am really pissed of at Fox, they killed this diamond in a rough much too soon and today they still greedily keep the licence from breaking free. Extremely frustrating like they are killing it twice. -

I don't understand why Netflix haven't at least looked into it. I mean they've brought back bloody Gilmore Girls and that cr*ppy comedy from E4 (Scrotal Recall) that neither critics nor audiences liked when it was on originally, and had literally no one asking for a return of.

A couple years ago a Netflix exec actually addressed it. According to him,
Firefly
's audience hasn't grown enough over the years since its cancellation to make it a viable show to bring back, as the viewership wouldn't be there. I completely disagree, since it seems new people discover
Firefly
near-constantly and you still see references to it a lot. (Work at a movie theater myself and I see people with
Firefly
merch like t-shirts and jackets on a pretty consistent basis and probably more than any other TV show merchandise, so I'd still say it's pretty relevant and that more people are discovering it.)
And FURTHERMORE, this is my signature! SERIOUSLY! Did you think I was still talking about my point? -

While that may be true, what are the actual viewing numbers on Netflix?
Merchandise is one thing, actual people viewing is another. I've seen people wear Scarface t-shirts yet have never seen the movie. I've seen people with Che Guevara shirts but didn't watch The Motorcycle Diaries.
I have to take the exec's word here. He'd have the actual numbers of how often Firefly is watched. Honestly, if it was a high enough number, I have no doubt they'd go for it. Arrested Development and Gilmore Girls are testament to that. And apparently so is Young Justice now.
Seize the moment, 'cause tomorrow you might be dead.
