Okay, I bought this movie for 3.99 at the local supermarket, having never heard of it. The video look was a huge disappointment and was definitely a mistake, but I was over it at second viewing. But two things make the ending frustrating.
First, when Gina is fighting with the killer for the knife and the crossbow, she basically gives up in order to take his mask off. She might have got the better of him if she hadn't done this! Yeah it is cool that we get to learn something about the bowman, but Gina has been the shrewd one and the fighter and this doesn't make sense.
Also, even though the Lauren character is supposed to be a bit insipid the whole time, it is way too silly that she says to the man she encounters after escaping "Oh, I need you to do me a favor" and then goes on to say that there's been "an accident" and could he call 911. The entire neighborhood knows about the killer. She could just say "the crossbow killer's on the roof of 208, call 9-1-1!" Yes, it's unrealistic to have characters in horror films do everything right but this is too ridiculous. And then the couple at the house actually discusses whether or not to call the police? Nobody would do that!
This movie has enough problems without ending on a note that makes you want to punch the director, the writers, and the characters.
