Ummm Halloween falling on a Friday the 13th??
I understand that makes no sense, but it would have been a FANTASTIC tagline for the movie.
Dragonzord! Mastodon! Pterodactyl! Triceratops! Saber Toothed Tiger! Tyrannosaurus!

There were plans for a sequel. At least Robert wanted to make another for a while, but I guess like this one it just took too long, and he probably decided it was too late. Nothing's happening. Time to move on.
Course the decision for a 2010 remake didn't help either. And with the announcement of yet another reboot of the series, I suspect New Line regrets doing that remake.
I think the one idea that had the most consideration for a sequel was a crossover with the EVIL DEAD films, and Ash would battle Freddy and Jason. This of course became a comic book. However I'm not sure if Bruce Campbell was interested. I may be mistaken, but I recall him saying the idea would lack punch because basically Ash would likely come out the victor. Not much suspense when you know he'll kick their butts is probably what he was getting at.
New Line also owned Leatherface at the time, but I guess the idea of those three together never even crossed their minds.

they waste too much time these days to come up with something, unlike the 80s and 90s where they pumped out sequels almost every few years.
Englund isn't too old, all he has to do is act, get a stuntman to do the rest! is that so hard to figure out?!
my idea if they did make a sequel, I think it would be cool being set in hell calling it Freddy vs Jason vs Hell.
Pinhead being the boss and he puts Freddy and Jason up against other horror icons seperately. Freddy could face off against other talking horror villains like Chucky and Leprechaun while Jason would fight against Michael Myers and Leatherface. Freddy and Jason win their battles and then have to face off with each other at the end to find out who's the real king of slashers. Freddy would outsmart his opponents by messing with their minds. while Jason could use his brutal force skills.
throughout we would see flashbacks to previous movies to seperate the scenes.
pity the rights for the films are owned by other people. having Michael and Jason in the same movie would make more sense since we can't have a Friday the 13th and Halloween set on the same day.

Robert recently announced he'd like to appear in the next ELM STREET reboot, but not as Freddy. I suppose he's satisfied with never playing Freddy again. He also wanted the next film to be more like DREAM WARRIORS.

Even without physical stunts and moving around, acting can still be strenuous. Putting on all the makeup probably takes a couple hours, and thats all just to get ready to start filming. An aggressive filming schedule is going to require lots of long hours and lots of long days, lots of chaos and running around, and probably very little relaxing. Certainly not the hardest job out there, but certainly not an easy job for someone whos almost 70 and probably wants some downtime. I doubt hes hurting for money at this point, so hes probably not going to do any films that hes not personally interested in.

I don't know why. Since this films release both "Elm Street" and "Friday" have had remakes. Those films were hated by fans and a sequel to "Freddy Vs Jason" would be nice to see. Now why hasn't one been made? Hard to say. I think an ideal setting for a sequel should take place at Crystal Lake. "Freddy Vs Jason" the majority of that film took place in Springwood so this time it should be on Jason's home turf!

Englund wanted to continue with Freddy. They were planning to add Michael Myers but that was dropped because two silent killers wouldn't work. Pinhead came up but Getting the rights was a issue. They made a push for Ash from Evil Dead but Nobody got on the same page about that. Around 2005-06 a prequel was talked about and Robert was excited to explore Freddy as a human but New line merged with Warner brothers in 2008 and they only care about remakes now. He just turned 69 and he said it would've been cool to play Freddy a couple more times in the 2000s but that time has passed. He is open for a cameo as a dream expert or something like that in the next movie. I wish one more Freddy movie could happen to give him a great send off. I have zero interest in future nightmare films with a new actor playing Freddy. This isn't James Bond where you get a new guy every decade. Robert Englund is Freddy and that's it.

That was a rumor. Michael Myers was never going to be part of this Universe. That was a fanboys wet dream. There was talk of Michael and Pinhead but that idea was vetoed.
Reality is that Freddy Vs Chucky would be a great match up

Freddy would destroy Chucky. Would not even be a close fight.

Once more would do. It would finalize the killer feud.

On behalf of the United Kingdom I can confirm that yes, we refused it. No thanks.
